Someone else posted about this today and I am not able to reply to THAT post. The change to the calculator makes it LESS helpful and kind of scarier. Not cool to not let us reply to that first thread.

If the other thread was in the "Ask a Mentor" forum, only mentors are allowed to reply to those questions.
The shipping calculator did change format.
I like that you can see all carriers/services on the same page.
I HATE that it shows a price range and no longer does a NY / Chicago / LA breakdown.
I HATE that it's showing eBay rates exclusively without a retail rate comparison. That's important data lost and more work for the seller to look up elsewhere.
Edit to add: there's also an apparent error as it says services are untracked that are, in fact, tracked, and it's showing no services have insurance coverage which is also wrong. Spotting some other smaller errors, too.
No idea why it's defaulting to 10x10x10 package at 10 oz unless it's remembering what I entered last time? I can't remember what I entered last time.

Hi @cskservices . I found your discussion on the Ask a Mentor forum. If you want to discuss with all sellers and not just get an answer from mentors, post here on the shipping forum - right in this thread. 🙂

I'm getting that also, so must be a default.....

Has the shipping calculator changed?
I would see a version that gave a break down of expected cost. It would show New York, Chicago, LA that gave me a range of cost based on the size and weight. Now, the calculator gives you ranges are very broad. Example; a 3lb item 15x5x8 shipping UPS Ground can be from $7-$62 dollars. Which I know to the furthest domestic distance it should only be no more that $15 from my location. I'm only shipping domestically.
Thank you.

Haha this needed more time to get it showing accurate information before rolling out.
And lack of seeing retail rates, not a fan.
Also harder to gauge price. UPS Ground Saver. 5.82-62.82. Was better when I could see los angeles and new york. To see more accurate price range for continental US.

You are spot on. This was my point exactly in my original message. The breakdown allowed me to offer free shipping on most items and still have profit. Although it wasn't exact in some cases, at least it gave me a good estimate to the shipping cost.
It almost looks as if the change will result in sellers increasing prices to offer free shipping that in turn increases revenue from seller fees. 🤔 No that can't be right.

How can the change be helpful to sellers? It just is less informative and another "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" change that is NOT useful to sellers. Have to do our own rate research elsewhere? Why remove the three major city quotes?!!
11-01-2024 10:16 AM
Why or why. Such a simple thing now broken. I can’t see major cities so now have to check zip codes. I don’t pass on discount on USPS and need to see the retail rate to quote. What the heck?

Ebay needs to STOP changing things or no good reason. The NY/Chicago/LA breakdown was EXTREMELY useful. Now I see a range o $5.00 - $60.00 NOT helpull ebay, CHANGE IT BACK!!!
11-02-2024 09:30 PM
Amen. The breakdown helped me decide if i could offer a lower price on my items to sell it quicker. now all i get is a range so now ? who the heck knows! NOT USEFUL and wasting more of my time! CHANGE IT BACK and stop fixing crap that Doesnt NEED fixing just for the sake of changing it! Your making our lives HARDER!

OK...just listed something and I cannot really tell what I am choosing. It looks like the full USPS price. I always try to pass on some of my savings to the customers. The ESTIMATE it gives does not match with what shows up once you post it.
I was going to add handling instead of a flat rate, but they just made it SO uninformative that it is ridiculous. Why complicate this????!!! They changed it to where I could not choose my eBay rate a while back and add handling. NOW this?!
I cannot see what I truly chose until I test the posted listing!!! WHY?!
Update-Looks like it is the retail shipping price you choose and now it is harder to compare what it would actually cost the seller. Making it less intuitive/helpful. Before we could see it on the same 'page' and not have to jump around.
Thanks for another unhelpful change.

Why change? What im suppose to do now remember zip codes Now.. I cant remember what I ate yesterday. **bleep**om... abounds by leaps and bounds to infinity with no help in sight....
