Ship Cover Insurance

What can I do if ship cover insurance is insufficient? I need to ship a package valued at a little over $3000 and ship cover insurance only goes up to $1,000.

nothing you can do. I believe $1000 is the limit on insurance through most carriers.

Re: Ship Cover Insurance

UPS has a high-value service that provides such insurance ... it is called Parcel Pro.

Re: Ship Cover Insurance

Dave,

If you are shipping a high value item like that, go down to USPS. Ship it registered mail. You can insure the item for up to 5,000.00 or the sales price. This is your best method and most secure. They do special handling on these packages and every postal employee that handles the package has to sign for it so there is a log the entire route to the buyer. Great service!

Cheers

@dave.odell

Are you using ebay labels?
New label format won't work but if you switch back to classic labels you can use the drop down arrow and select USPS insurance
Appears with their new label they are trying to force use to use the Ship cover by eliminating the USPS insurance.

You can insure for up to $5000.00 or online with USPS

classic label see drop down to select

Re: Ship Cover Insurance

Thanks. That's the answer I was looking for. I couldn't figure out where the drop down menu for USPS insurance had gone and how to bring it back.

>>New label format won't work but if you switch....

I'm going to say it's yet another coding/design failure in the new label flow, not an intentional change to force use of ShipCover (which might be a violation of their USPS postage reseller contract anyway)

Only USPS services that have included free insurance already (PM and PME) don't have the option to add additional USPS insurance.

Parcel Select, First Class Package, and I assume Media Mail (can't check as new label flow grays it out for dis-allowed categories) have the dropdown, and allow choosing ShipCover or USPS insurance options (although they do default to ShipCover as first choice - but so does the classic label flow)

I think they messed it up.

Really? Doesn't priority mail free insurance only go up to $50? I'm pretty sure I've bought extra for a small added cost.

Re: Ship Cover Insurance

That's the point here - you can't buy additional USPS insurance for PM or PME shipments using the new label flow.

On the eBay new label flow the free USPS insurance shows (up to $50 or $100 for TRS sellers) for PM and PME , but there is no option to add more USPS insurance above that - it offers only ShipCover insurance for additional insurance. For FCP, PS, and MM it offers a choice of USPS or ShipCover insurance via a dropdown.

The classic flow lets you add USPS insurance for valuations above the free default to PM and PME shipments.

I think it's another bug in the new label flow.

Re: Ship Cover Insurance

Your right It is a bug/glitch or something
it allows us to select USPS for First class but not for PM.
I hope thy get this stuff all worked out before they take away the Classic label !!!
