I only started selling on eBay US this month and wow, my first proper transaction ends up as a SNAD case. (the other two were fake scam bidders who never paid) I'm cringing at this pathetic buyer of mine. I've conducted over 100 transactions with 100% feedback in eBay UK for years and this mess lands straight away in the US eBay. (Moved over from the UK and only started selling this month) Anywho, I've done some reading on old posts in this topic and it seems there is virtually no chance of the seller winning the SNAD buyer case, so I've given up and decided to accept the return.
Buyer has accused me of blurry photos, gross misrepresentation and even advised me to purchase better camera for the future? Feel free to check out the latest sale of mine to see for yourselves if my photo was blurry. It's the classic buyer's remorse. He ended up in a bidding war in the last minutes of the auction and won but now, instead of thoroughly inspecting the description and photos realised that he was too busy sending me 11 messages during the auction time saying how much he wanted the instrument. Now, he has changed his mind. He says that I'm a fraud seller and hurled unfounded allegations towards me! (It's the Bach Trumpet that sold on June 24th)
A couple of questions:
1. Will I get a defect for this? eBay resolution hasn't been called in yet, only been two days since the opened case. I've only started selling this month properly and a defect already will probably bust me out of my 'intended' hobby eBay selling account.
2. Buyer has opened a case on Paypal, eBay and apparently has called his credit card company after being called a 'fraud' seller. How do I proceed with three open cases? Apparently, if I go through Paypal, the tax automatically collected by eBay isn't refunded so I have to pay extra?
3. Is there any chance that a seller might win or is it better off to not bother and just surrender to any SNAD case that lands at an eBay seller's doorstep? Was talking to an eBay support rep and she basically said that eBay gave zero **bleep** to justice and only cares about the return to equilibrium, where the buyer gets his/her money back in every SNAD case and the seller ends up losing the time and money, dealing with these selfish pillocks.
Yours sincerely,

Well Ebay will close his case if hes filed with his cc. He cant have three cases open at once, thats crazy. You dont get a defect if you respond to the case, if you ignore it you will. Just respond with a refund after return. You are also responsible to send him a return label, but since you are in the UK, you will have to PP him the funds for the label. Good luck.

Sorry, I misunderstood, you are in the US now. Then you will have to provide him with a return label.

And Ebay will refund him the tax he paid, not you.

You won't get a defect if you respond to the eBay return request. Accept the return, and then refund the money when it is returned.

You do not want this escalated with eBay. You will lose. Since you listed this item as "refurbished" / "excellent", then this implies pretty close to new condition and any flaw noticed by the buyer is a justifiable Money Back Guarantee claim ... I get the feeling that this instrument has lots of flaws. Glancing at the photos, it should have been listed as used rather than refurbished.

Mistake as my first instrument sale. In the end, I decided to give in to the return request. Couldn't risk a defect or negative feedback. I chose 'refurbished' because I did pay a good amount to get the instrument fully cleaned up, parts exchanged and major dents removed but I didn't pay attention to the text associated with the 'refurbished' status.
Lesson learnt and I will pay more attention to descriptions in the future.
