Returns

Can anyone answer my question? Due to Covid 19 and concerns for the health of the Buyer Ebays new return policy is a buyer now has 36 days after initial return request to ship the item back, yet a Top Rated Seller has only 24 hours to ship the item once sold. Possibly Ebay is not concerned about a Sellers health.

What's your question?

eBay gives you the flexibility to do whatever is best for your situation.   To maintain Top Rated Seller status, you just need to ship out your product within your handling time.  If you want to have the flexibility to ship products out in 36 days, then extend your handling time to 30 business days (6 weeks or 42 days).

Your incentive to have low handling times, of course, is to improve sales and not to maintain TRS status  Most buyers will avoid anything with a 42 day handling time ... but if you need to have a 42-day handling time because of COVID-19 concerns, then you have that flexibility.

Re: Returns

Top Rated Sellers get a 10% discount on the Ebay selling fees. It has nothing to do with Covid 19, with one phone call USPS will pick up at the front door or other location at no charge. If I have a buyer file for a return on day 28 of my 30-day return he has another 36 days to ship it back, meanwhile I am out the part and the money is set aside for over 2 months.

Re: Returns

NO.  If a listing has 1-day handling time AND free 30-day returns, then the listing is a top rated PLUS listing, and you get the 10% discount off the item price FVF when the item sells.

You can be a top rated seller without the above, so you don't get that extra 10% discount on FVF.  I used to have top rated seller plus listings, but when the discount dropped from 20% to 10% I didn't think it was worth it.  I did keep the 1-day handling time (just in case I change my mind).

I call this sharp thinking.

Re: Returns

I have TRS status and my listings now have an extended handling time.

You are correct, though, in that sellers can't adjust eBay's return time allowance.
