Returning a Refunded Item

I recently purchased an item that I really needed a couple days after the expected delivery date. I understand that shipping is slow due to COVID-19, but the item was almost two weeks late. I talked to the seller about this and they were very kind and refunded me. A little while later, the item ended up being the delivered so I asked the seller how I should return it to them. The seller told me that I had to pay for shipping to return it but that would be very pricey since it is a heavy item. I contacted Ebay and they told me that if the seller wanted the item back, they had to send me a label. I asked the seller for a return label but they still insisted on me paying for the shipping. I don't know what to do know because I should not have to pay for shipping but the seller is refusing to do it. I'm trying to do the right thing by returning the item to the seller but this is getting very difficult. Any advice?

Returning a Refunded Item

If you don't want to return the item, then repay the seller.

Estimated date of arrival is just that -- an estimated date.  Everyone knows the pandemic has slowed the mail process considerably.

Personally, I would have been more patient before insisting on a refund.

Now you have both the item and a refund.

The seller is out the item and refunded you.

Hopefully, you will do the right thing and either send it back or repay the seller for the item (and resell it yourself!)

Returning a Refunded Item

As I said before, I really needed the item by a certain time and I waited almost two weeks for it. I don't need the item anymore because it was late, so that's why I would like to return it. I'm not trying to take the item from the seller because I know they refunded me for it. I just don't understand how to return it to them if they refuse to give me a label

Returning a Refunded Item

Did you open an Item Not Received case and were refunded so quickly that way? Or did the seller simply refund you through PayPal?

I ask because the seller truly is out the FVFs (10% + 2.9 + .30) on the item and the s&h charge, if that is the case... if the refund came through PayPal. Plus, if you were refunded that way... you could have written RTS on the package (that you knew wasn't paid for) and it would be on its way back to the seller.

This is a dicey situation... hopefully you and the seller can reach some common ground. I mean, you don't want it, and the seller could resell it........

Good luck!

Returning a Refunded Item

I opened the item not received case and once they accepted it the refunded money showed up on my bank account a couple days later, I never had to accept the money on PayPal or anything like that, but I don't know if it makes much of a difference. Is this something that Ebay can step in and help with? I'm not sure if they would because its not like they can force the seller to send me a label...
