Hi.
Not sure I’m doing this right.
Bought a brand new iPhone on eBay from a seller/shop who has quite a few for sale with good feedback.
However the battery doesn’t last a day.
i have asked due to only being a week and new item and I have to have my phone for work that he send me a replacement and then I will return this one.
His options were a £10 refund
send it back and lose my phone for over a week
or buy another one then receive a refund when I return the other one.
am I being I being unreasonable.
Meh says it’s strict eBay policy to do it this way
any help appreciated
thanks in advance

It isn't likely that any seller is going to send you a replacement before you send back the original. If sellers did that, more buyers would say they needed a replacement, keep the original and get a replacement too. You will need to return what you need to first to your seller. Have them issue you a return label.

Hi thanks for that. I thought that would be the case. It’s just annoying I live in Ireland. So although they pay return label I still have to pay for the Parcel motel I think. And this will also extend the returns process aswell. I was just exploring my options.

Yes, you already know this seller ships bad phones
That is quite an assumption to make about a seller that you know very little about.
The OP wanted the replacement battery and the OP has the right to ask for one. If that is a viable solution to the problem and the buyer and seller agree, there is nothing wrong with proceeding with the replacement.
Yes if the OP prefers they can request a complete return of the phone, ship it back and get a refund on the entire purchase price once the seller receives the item back. And of course the OP is free to purchase another phone from whomever they choose.
But there was nothing wrong with the way the OP and the seller had choosen to correct the problem at hand either. Clearly the seller is working with their buyer to resolve the issue in the way the BUYER wants to resolve the issue which is usually called good customer service.

Replacing an iPhone battery isn't easy and the seller wants the Op to BUY another phone, then ship the lemon back for a refund.
Imho that's a good indicator that the seller is shady.
I think you overlooked the word "or" in the OP. The seller gave the buyer OPTIONS. Ship back the phone back for a FULL refund or keep it and get a partial refund. What exactly is wrong with that? What more do you expect the seller to do?
Yes the seller per the OP said if they wanted to ship it back for a full refund and purchase another phone that this was an option. You are ASSUMING that the buyer would purchase a new phone first and then wait for the refund on the intial purchase until the phone arrived back in the seller's hands. In what order a buyer does that is up to the buyer NOT the seller. And it does not appear that the seller said they had to purchase another phone from them. The buyer is certainly free to purchase from any seller they want to.
It is the buyer that is willing to just ship the battery back for a replacement one to be shipped to them. So if the battery is difficult to remove, it appears that the OP is willing to do that. The OP has NOT said if the seller is willing to do that.
There is nothing wrong with the options the seller has offered to the buyer. The buyer just needs to decide what their best approach is for their needs.

Just a suggestion. Check your battery in the phone to see if it the same as an original OEM battery. I learned a lesson one time when I bought a battery for my old flip phone, bought it on eBay from a seller in China because it was cheap. A fully charged battery would last maybe a day & a half and I don't live on my cell phone - didn't do much texting - too hard to do when you had to hit the button 3 or 4 times to get one letter). Bought an OEM battery at a reasonable price and it would last about 4 days unless I was talking to my psychiatrist.
If the battery isn't OEM then you can get one to see if this makes a difference BUT it also may mean you didn't get a new Iphone or you bought a fake one. I would guess if you contacted an Iphone dealer they could get s/n and determine if was legit or otherwise you.

Remember you cant buy a Mercedes at teh price of a Volkswagon Bug or Quality and low price are not compatible but are like oil and water

There exists a good possibility the Iphone is not real and the seller maybe "shady" as another poster stated. Lots of sellers of fake Iphones - do a google search (fake Iphones) & you can see. Only the OP can determine that by getting an opinion from an authorized Iphone dealer. Then they simply can open an Item Not As Described and the their money back and buy another & the seller pays return shipping fees.

I've reread the OP's post several times and can't seem to find that the OP stated this
"The OP wanted the replacement battery"
Can you direct me to where that was stated?

You are absolutely correct. But there is no where near enough information on this thread to support that opinion. The seller per the OP gave them option on what they could do. That shows the seller is trying to do right by their buyer. The mere fact they sell cell phones is not enough to accurately state this seller is selling fake phones.
And Yes, the OP can open a claim for the return of the item. There is nothing, to include the seller, preventing the buyer from doing that. But the simple fact a claim is filed still doesn't mean this seller is a scammer. While lots of sellers may sell fakes, there are lots of sellers that do NOT. There is NO information on this thread to support that this seller is a scammer.

Maybe this will help.
"i have asked due to only being a week and new item and I have to have my phone for work that he send me a replacement and then I will return this one. "
While not structured in a way that it is easy to read, I read this to say the OP asked him to send a replacement and they will return this one because they wanted to be down the least amount of time as they need their phone.
