Re: Regional boxes

If you use a Regional box, then you must pay the Regional price.  Just as you must pay the flat rate if you use a flat rate box.  You cannot pay the regular weight-based rate if you use a Regional or flat-rate box.

Postage for a Regional "A" box is lower than the postage for 3 pounds.

Re: Regional boxes

Distance does not matter, despite some of the writeups that appear even from USPS itself which imply that they are only for shipping short distances.  In the official USPS rates publication, there is a separate little price chart for Regional boxes; as you can see, there is a price for every Zone. The heavier your box and the farther it goes, the more you can save.

Re: Regional boxes

I am still confused. If I have item that say is 3# and it fits in region box, can I enter weight and dimensions and ship that way? Like it doesn’t say regional on box?

Re: Regional boxes

There are specific boxes from USPS for regional rate shipping. You have to use those boxes for the regional rate. Sometimes you can find them at the post office, but they do not usually stock them - you have to order them online and they will be delivered to your address.

They are marked regional rate A and regional rate B. They come in two different shapes for each designation - a longer, wider, but narrower one and a more rectangular shape.

Regional rates are available from anywhere in the US to anywhere in the US, but depending on the distance and the weight of the package, it is not always the cheapest way to send something priority. Since they are regional rates, there is not a flat cost, it depends on the distance that the package is traveling.

Re: Regional boxes

I often use the Regional Rate A box for things weighing over 2# and that fit into the box.

You would select Priority when creating the listing, using 3# for the weight.

When you print the label, select Priority > Regional Rate > A
