I sent an item Priority mail 2 day delivery. It is 10 days late. Postage was purchased through eBay with tracking automatically uploaded. Can a I request a refund on any of this ? Total of sale was $40 with free shipping. Tracking shows on way to next facility several times only saying arriving late. Customer has not requested anything yet. Just preparing for the worst case scenario. Could not find any clear answer on forums. I very rarely have any issues and do not want to suck up the cost if a refund is requested. Refunds on lost or damaged sales usually total less than 50 bucks a year for me.

What the post office does has nothing to do with eBay. You can try to take it up with your post office, but I doubt they will refund you.
This is from USPS
USPS Won't Offer Refunds for Late Delivery Unless You Shipped Priority Mail Express. There is one instance where USPS will refund for late delivery: if you paid to ship Priority Mail Express. Priority Mail Express is the only money-back guaranteed service that the US Postal Service offers.

Priority mail isn't a guarantee for 2 or 3 day delivery, just an estimate. No refund.

Go to the usps website
fill out requirements and they will call you. They will put out a search for it and let your buyer know that your on top of it and will keep them informed.

Priority Mail has up to $100 included insurance.
As others said, you won't get squat and can't file a claim if the package arrives late.
However if the package is lost then yeah, you can file an insurance claim through USPS @gooseislandcollectibles.

It's not lost yet though. I think you have to wait 15 days before you can file but no later 60 days.

Thanks for all the help. I appreciate it. Just stinks because I mostly ship media mail and I have had records go from Pennsylvania to San Diego in just 3 days. And here I ship a rare Priority package from Pennsylvania to Kentucky and 12 days later it has not arrived yet. Just the quirks of USPS I guess.

Priority Mail is not GUARANTEE 2-day delivery. USPS will pay for "lost package" but NOT if it still shows in transit. I have gotten refund "full refund" from USPS.com for lost packages. You need to file "claim" for lost package and attach copy of EBAY invoice.

The priority express mail refund is NOT available for all areas. If you are shipping something to an area that is way out in the boondocks, it will NOT be guaranteed to arrive in 24 hours. Also if you ship near closing time, the guarantee may not be available to some areas. It has to do with the amount of flights available to those areas. Sending something from NYC to a major city in Cal. is guaranteed usually because there are so many flights available to transport the package(letter) but if you were sending from NY to a far away city in Idaho (far away from the major cities/airports), it won't be guaranteed. Again, you need to send it early in the day. My post office has a truck that leaves at 10 am, 1 pm and the last one is around 6 pm after the post office closed.

I mailed a package priority mail and it was damaged in shipment. Of course I refunded the money and when I tried to file a claim with USPS said my package was not eligible for a refund unless it was mailed express. It shows $50.00 insurance with the postage but unless you buy the insurance you are out of luck as far as USPS is concerned.
