I sold an item and shipping was for a large flat rate priority box. My question is, can I still print the priority label off and just use a normal brown box?
It’s a tight fit in the large priority rate box.
Thanks for your help.

You will have to revise the label preparation page before you purchase the label. Instead of the large flat rate box, choose regular basic Priority package/ thick envelope, then enter the weight and dimensions of your actual package.

A regular brown box is not flat rate. That's where the problem is.
To ship Large Flat Rate your would have to ship in the USPS printed large flat rated box noted as that. ONLY that box gets that label.

Ok thank you.

Yes that’s where the problem is... I think I will actually just package it, put their name and address and pay for shipping at the post office. Then add the tracking to the auction. I shouldn’t lose any money since they’ve paid for the $19.95 larger long priority box. Thank you.

But it will cost you more at the PO than it would through eBay for the same package weight, dimensions, and distance.

You can still print the label from eBay. You will have the ability to switch it from large flat rate box to regular Priority (or any other service for that matter) when you go to print the label. No reason to purchase at PO.

BTW, it makes no sense to only offer large flat rate priority. Its fine to offer that as an option since for certain items to certain locations it can be more economical for some buyers. But if you live down the street from me, that will always be the wrong shipping method.

Hear, hear. Flat Rate is the go-to option for heavy packages and long distances, but otherwise the buyer is probably paying more than he needs to. I can't remember the last time I received a Flat Rate purchase shipment that really needed Flat Rate shipping.

That’s fine When you use a regular Priority label. The op was asking about using a flat rate box label on a non flat rate box.
