Poor packing slip

Every order I ship includes a packing slip, so the buyer will have information about the shipment they have just received and so that if the shipping label is damaged or lost the shipping co can still find a mailing address.

Before I was forced to use managed payments I printed PayPal packing slips and they were great.  They even let you add your own message.  I added something about contacting me first with any problems, leaving feedback and thanks for the purchase.  Whenever I refunded shipping charge overages, I made a note on the packing slip just to catch the buyer's attention.

eBay's packing slips are a joke!  They don't even provide the price and shipping cost of the item.  Their slips are fine for gifts, otherwise, they are useless.  The list of canned responses you can add to the packing slip are hilarious.  "Thanks for your purchase! I hope your item is received in the same condition which it was packed and shipped. Do enjoy!"  or  "Thanks for your purchase! Have a great day!"  None of the messages convey my thoughts.  Why in the world can't sellers add their own messages?  Why can't they edit a packing slip to include the information they find relevant??  I sell on another big platform for hand made items and you can edit the slip all you want.

I have resorted to making my own packing slip by copying the "View Order Details" printable text and adding my message using a Microsoft text document.  It's not the best, but sure beats what eBay provides.

I'm so sorry that eBay has made these latest "improvements to help sellers" by forcing sellers into managed payments and managed returns.  Unfortunately I renewed a monthly store subscription in July.  I see this as my final year being an eBay seller after 18 years selling and 20 years a member.  Just because eBay is driving me away with their micromanaging.  Too bad.

Re: Poor packing slip

Thanks!  I've been using MS notebook, very cumbersome.  However, the day I searched all over eBay trying to find a printable invoice or packing slip, there must have been some problem.  I only got the option of printing a packing slip with canned responses and no prices.  Now when I click on "print shipping label or invoice" a different option comes up with the actual format I want.  Must have been a glitch in the system.  Nothing new there.

Re: Poor packing slip

Packing slips don't include prices, they are just that, slips that list the content's package.

I'm looking at a Staples packing slip for an order I just received, and there are no prices or shipping costs on it.

What you seem to want is an invoice.

Re: Poor packing slip

Print an invoice from eBay's menu which will include shippers address, buyers address, item contents description, price, and shipping cost.  You can also generate your own packing slip using MS word or a program like Quickbooks, but printing from eBay is a lot easier and faster.  Problem solved.

If you are able to use Shippo it will give you combination Packing Slip/Invoice. Unsure if it looks differently between dot ca and dot com but think it should be mostly the same. The only concern/problem I have is it includes the state tax in the final total but does not show the actual amount as a line item. It was passed on to them to fix this but no luck, to date. I only use the packslip version from Seller's Hub when I ship the very few parcels I mail using letter service or for pick ups.

Re: Poor packing slip

Different people call it different things and include different things.  PayPal packing slips show price and shipping.  Thanks for reply

Re: Poor packing slip

I also include a "packing slip" with all my packages. I have made a .doc that I have preprinted with my own message and print out eBay's on that.

Today I happened to be noodling on my "All orders" page and in the drop down under "Actions" there is a choice of  "Print Packing Slip and More". It opens a Packing Slip that has....eBay at the top, my store name, the link for my store, a QR code for my store, Ship To(full address and phone #), Ship From, Order ID, Item, Quantity, Price, a message from the seller, and my return policy!!!!

I am still using my preprinted .doc and printing this new choice over it.

Very surprising, I love it. It looks very professional, hope it's not a glitch and so dumb that it is hidden! Very different than the packing slip choice that is on the shipping page!

Check it out!!!
