I shipped a $400 plus item via Parcel Select Insured with Signature Confirmation on July 8. I dropped it off along with a Priority Mail package at our local post office. I have not waited in line for my packages to be scanned and to get a receipt for several years. I've had no problems until now.
The Priority package was scanned at the local post office and promptly delivered. The Parcel Select package was not scanned, and twelve days later has still not been scanned, I tried to complete an online report but it would not go through.
I spoke to our local postmaster. He apologized that it was not scanned before it left his office. He said it is a well kept secret that Parcel Select packages go to a hub (in our case 350 miles away in Memphis). He said they are put in a semi trailer and left until the trailer is full before they leave that hub for the next. He said it is not unusual for them to go untouched in the trailer for as long as 30 days.
The buyer has been very kind and appreciative of my efforts to find the package. I understand the buyer can't wait indefinitely.
I am checking daily for scans. Has anyone else had this happen? Any advice. Thanks in advance.
