I'm wondering if people are printing the 'packing slip' provided by eBay for each purchase? I'm wasting lots of paper doing this by because it prints on a half sheet. Is there another option? Do you use a business card or send a thank you card? I don't know what to do about this.

This is all personal preference. Buyers have access to purchase documents and no Packing Slips are needed unless you're shipping to an international destination which in those cases, paperwork goes on the package for Customs
Placing Thank You cards are not necessary either. Buyers care about quality, condition and price on eBay. Getting fancy, while other factors not at work, isn't suitable

Hello,
I don't use packing slips as you stated it is a waste of paper. I do have business Post cards printed through Vista Print. This way I can have my return policy sent to them and anything else I may want my customers to know. It also allows me to write a nice little Thank you Note . My customers seem to really appreciate this. I know it is really not necessary , however.

I have never printed a single packing slip, ever. Never had a complaint about it, either. In fact, when we were actively selling, 90% of the items we had listed were pre-packaged and sealed, ready to slap an address label on and ship.

Tagging on:
I've always included a packing slip unless a buyer asks me not to. It just seems more professional that way.
I buy on ebay and sometimes have 15-20 packages that I'm waiting for delivery. As a buyer, I appreciate it when a seller includes the packing slip to help me know who sent it.
Considering how much the fees and postage are costing me, the 2 cents the packing slip costs me seems like a good deal.

I am about 50/50. When I do include one, hand write Thank You on it.

I print two copies of the 4x6 thermal shipping label and put one in the box. Its only purpose is to identify the addressee and shipper should the shipping label on the outside of the box get damaged.

I do not print a packing slip unless the buyer requests it (rare). I print up sheets of thank you receipts with my seller name on pretty stationery paper. I get 20+ on 1 sheet of paper. I write the item, thanks, and my initial. Kind of a personal touch while saving paper.

I never use a packing slip either
the only time I think I ever used one was for the USal asian reshipper
they are the buyers who want the item number on the outside of the box.
ever since ebay started to include the item number on the address label I dont really see the need
years ago a notorious buyer would give negs out for no packing slips
he claimed he bought too much and had trouble figuring them all out
thats a valid concern but ebay labels now have the item number

"..........trouble figuring them all out"
Swear it wasn't me!

I don't include packing slips unless they're requested. (I throw them out when I receive things I've purchased.)
But I do include the standard eBay Thank You note with a simple "Enjoy" and a signature. So far, so good...

I put a packing slip in all my packages. I wrap it inside the bubbles. I started doing this every time after USPS destroyed the packaging once and they were able to deliver the item, still wrapped in the bubbles undamaged, to the buyer because I had the packing slip inside.
As to the half sheet, I print 2 on the page by printing the first one then turning the paper and printing the second one on the other end. If you have lots to do then that may not work for you. If I only have one I use the other half of the paper as scratch paper. Never have to buy note paper.

Maybe it depends, but my buyers always said they liked my Thank You cards. I get them at Dollar Tree so it doesn't cost much. Of course it might depend on what and to who you sell to, but making it a nice transaction seemed to make my people happy. I use tissue paper, and clear bags, etc. I like it!
Totally optional, of course.

I do the same. I print out the packing slip and then handwrite a thank you on it before I stick it in the box.

I do not print packing slips. I hate to waste all that paper. Yes, I enclose a Thank you card wtih a discount and my other store names & locations on it.
