I just did my first one. I sold a gold necklace at the beginning of December and it has not arrived yet. Yesterday I rightfully got an item not received. I instantly returned the money and that might have been a mistake as when I put the tracking in Ebays tracking there was no movement. I put it into the USPS website and it was moving in Miami, where the package was going. I believe in cause and effect so I am pretty sure the buyer is innocent. I didnt want to take the chance so I intercepted the necklace. It was able to be returned to me and it cost 18 bucks. No bad considering the cost of the thing. Regardless, intercepting the package is really easy to do. Just a few clicks and you are good to go. I did email the buyer and inform them I was able to intercept.

First example I am aware of where a USPS intercept succeeded.
Always failed when I tried it.
Good for you

If I understand correctly, this package was floating around undelivered for two months and you put an intercept on it and got it back right away? That sounds pretty lucky to me.

You put in an intercept yesterday, and have the item back already?
I am totally amazed. Wait, not amazed, I'm gobsmacked.
Moving around in Miami, and returned/delivered to Cali in one day.

Filing a package intercept is one thing, actually getting it back is another. Please come back and let us know if and when you actually get it back.

I got the impression the seller got it back.

I got the impression he did the intercept earlier, and got the INR yesterday.

I've done it 4 times and it was only returned to me once. You are lucky

Could be.....maybe I misunderstood, I read it as he filed the package intercept yesterday. Maybe the OP can clear it up.

Was it a 'freight forward' from Miami to another country?
That could explain why you got it back. It sat around at the freight forward facility until there are a number of packages to send to buyer and / or country.
Check eBay buyer ID in feedbacks for country.
You are so lucky.

I had it work exactly once. Lucky for me, because it was a $400 item.
USPS is clear that you pay your money and take your chances. There are no guarantees for package intercepts.
In my case, the package made it all the way to the buyer's PO before it was re-routed back to me.
