I have been selling on Ebay for 15 years. This was originally a venue for small (and large) sellers to offer their products. Ebay has increasingly imposed their preferences on its sellers even though really we own our businesses and just use Ebay as our technical site. I am appalled at Ebay for forcing this return policy after they have increasingly raised our fees (increased fees, monthly store prices, even charging fees on the shipping charges). I have stayed with Ebay through all these increases but now I am actively looking for options. I started my search yesterday and never realized how many options we really have as online sellers. It may take me a year, but I will complete the process to leave ebay and use another venue for my online selling. I have already started.......

eBay isn’t forcing a new return policy on anyone. It’s completely voluntary.

FVF on shipping fee, what Ebay does is to split some of the FVF of item to shipping,it found out some sellers are avoiding FVF by selling item at 99 cents and shipping at $72
that policy was inplace for many years

what bothers me is the overall appearance and content of t he site, lots of junk, poor description, poor pictures ,it seems the only way not to lose money is to find some junk and thrown it on Ebay and hope for the best.

Wait until the dishonest buyers figure out they only have to check defective so that the seller will be forced to accept a return and bear the shipping cost both ways. THey don't even have to leave a comment that makes any sense or even communicate with a seller. eBay is becoming a very dangerous place to sell.
Sadly the hostile treatment of eBay sellers will reduce the number of buyers. (sellers are buyers too) I know I have decreased my buying on eBay to all most nothing.

I'm on the same boat as you, its disheartening that we are getting milked for every dime we make and thrown under the bus for any return.

I am not a regular e_Bay seller. Maybe once or twice a year sell something that I bought on e-Bay. But I have run across the abusive new return policies put in place by the e-Bay Reich. There was nothing wrong with the phone, ecpet it would not work on MY SERVICE, ONLY a specific carrier. So. I turned around and sold it...The guy who bought it from me got it and the same day filed a return request because the phone was defective. It gave a network error when he turned it on....OK, that's because you have to BUY service from the carrier. What, a used phone comes with lifetime unlimited minutes????
Ebay bought him a return label on my dime and will refund him the full price of the phone, on my dime after it shows being delivered. NOt even an inspection by me..(I don't expect to get the same phone back.) And I would suspect that the buyer will post bad feedback to boot. I have stopped buying on e-Bay (My paypal account was frozen.) Maybe I can auction my e-Bay account on e-Bay...got over 1200+ and over 15 years on e-Bay!

Yup! I ran accross exactly this problem. Just check the box and get a refund after it, maybe the original item, but most likely a brick, gets delivered and NOT inspected. I feel sorry for the real sellers.

There are now many threads with similar complaint. Sellers pay the fees and we have no right. W T F? Didn't realize sellers signed up to give away the keys to our bank accounts.

Wrong. Ebay is forcing the return policy on sellers. They care nothing about sellers! Ebay is a great place to buy, you buy, you lie, you keep the item + a refund!

Nope. I’m right as usual. They aren’t forcing the 30 day free returns on anyway. It’s totally voluntary. Shouldn’t spread misinformation here, it’s harmful.

It is not voluntary. I am being told that I am violating agreement because my clothing items have a return of 14 days - and they want 30 days. So a buyer can purchase a dress, wear it for an event and then return it. I have family who worked at Walmart, and this is exactly what people would do - return an item with stains about 30 days later and want a return.
