I shipped a package using priority mail back on November 23rd. As of November 24th, the package has not updated since. I opened up a package research case with USPS on December 4th and it closed the same day. They basically told me that they found the package and it should be moving, but it's slow bc of the Holidays and the pandemic. It's December 22nd and there is still no movement. I filed a missing mail search request about a week ago and I still have no updates on this package. I am being very vocal about this to the buyer and giving them updates on the situation. I also reassured them I would refund the full amount if the package is indeed lost.
I wanted to file an insurance claim on this package to get a full refund of everything but I'm afraid if I refund the buyer and do this, they'll magically find the box and then the buyer will get my goods for free and I lose my money I paid for postage and for the contents inside. I can't file an insurance claim unless I refund the buyer or issue a replacement. And I only have 60 days from when I bought the label to ship this to file an insurance claim for compensation, where as i could wait as long as 90 days for an update on this search for the package.
I'm just not sure what to do in this situation so can someone help me? Thank you.
