We don't usually use ebays postage but I had a one off purchase so just clicked through and paid via Ebay, now that item has not been delivered and tracking shows it disappeared some 2 weeks ago, of course I will refund or replace for the buyer but how do I go about reclaiming the postage cost? Or is this not possible?
Thanks in advance, I did have a search in the help and community notes but whilst an experienced seller I am an ebay novice!

If the package was insured, file a claim at usps.com.

If you had it insured, file a claim with the carrier.
This has nothing to do with purchasing the postage through Ebay. This could have happened no matter where you purchased the label. No need to hold this against Ebay as they had nothing to do with how the carrier handled the package anymore than you did.

I only use ebay labels. As others posted, it's not ebay. They don't ship the pkg. They merely provide a platform for printing labels. If you shipped it, it is out of your hands. Have you checked the tracking? Surely tracking shows where it was last scanned. The buyer can't hold you accountable for not receiving it if they have . Maybe call the post master of the last known location. That's what I would do.
It still may show up. One pkg. I shipped last year to one city over (an hours drive from here) toured half the country before getting to the destination. Luckily we were able to track that journey online and the buyer patiently waited.
Try the Help and Contact link at the top of this page and scroll down. You may find help there.

Today I will not judge.

As others have posted just because you used the ebay platform to print the label doesn't mean it is their fault the item is lost.
Whatever carrier service you used there in the UK is the one responsible for losing your package.
I'm not sure what you shipped , what service you used but they are the ones you would need to contact for help. Was it tracked ? was it insured?
ebay isn't going to refund you the shipping charges on the lost package.
