I have been selling on Ebay for about 2 months now and use Media Mail frequently for books and LP records. I usually ship out standard books, so there is no issue with that, same for the LP records. But I have a question regarding a Dungeons and Dragons Core Rulebook.
It is a regular hardcover book of about 200 pages, and a quick flip through the pages shows there are no ads in it (as per Media Mail rules), so am I good to ship it through MM? Or, because it's a "game" book and not educational in nature do I have to ship it with PM?
Thank you.

Educational books qualify for Book Rate which is similar to Media Mail. You can send your non-educational game book by Media Mail. If LP's, DVD's and CD's are not educational then the book gets treated the same way. Remember do not pack it with newspaper.

Educational books can go Media Mail. There is no longer any thing known as book rate.

It's fine to ship MM. As long as it doesn't contain advertising, and you don't ship it with a non-book item such as a card. A book doesn't have to be strictly educational to ship MM.

Thank you. I'll ship MM then. Just don't want to get in trouble!

Actually there is still a book rate/library rate, it is just permit based now.

Side note: your magazine doesn't qualify for media mail.

How about a 1950s Sears catalog which is all advertising, but is actually a collectable and none of the advertising is relevant today?
Probably not according to this ... isn't a catalog just one big giant advertisement? Doesn't matter if it is relevant or not.

Also, that handy chart specifically says regarding catalogues: "publication date is irrelevant." Advertising makes an item ineligible regardless of age.

I know the magazine doesn't qualify. I've shipped several now and always use first class to ship them and any other magazine. But thank you for your response!

Then why have you listed it with Media Mail showing as the shipping method? You might even have lost a potential customer due to that; I myself have chosen not to purchase items that show MM on ineligible items.
