This is an FYI for sellers. Does everyone know that you can go to USPS.com and request that your regular mail carrier pick up your packages for mailing during your regular mail drop? You can request for 1st class and Priority mail and it offers choices on if you want the carrier to knock on your door, or leave them on your porch, etc. The carrier will scan your tracking numbers as he/she picks them up. This is a great service and I have been using it for a couple years now. Beats getting out in the AZ heat and waiting in line at the post office any day!!

You can also request Carrier Pickup as part of the online label purchase process.

That is a great service if you can use it. I cannot. I live on a private dirt road that is too far off the main road for the USPS to come to my house to pick up or deliver packages. They come to my neighbor's house but mine is too far and if I tried to set up a pickup it says that it isn't available for my address.

How do you get your mail? Today I am putting a sticky note on my mailbox for the carrier to pick up two packages. Sticky notes work good if you do not need a receipt.

When I had a rural mailbox it was three-quarters of a mile from my house down on the main road. If packages would fit in it I could leave them there for pick-up but it was risky since anyone driving by could take things out of the mailbox. Then 2 years ago a hurricane blew down my mailbox so I just got a PO Box in town because I couldn't find anyone to put my mailbox back up.

I had a PO box for years until they messed up and put my purchases in the wrong box and whomever got my things did not turn them in. Was out over 100.00 and nothing I could do about it. I also used to hang my packages to mail out on my front door knob until someone stole one of them. I don't know what I am complaining about--heck I used to be able to go where I wanted and not wear a mask. Try just breathing in one when it is 113 degrees outside. This is not how I wanted to spend my twilight years for sure.

As your neighbor to the west I completely understand why you use that pickup service. Not only are we suffering with this heat, no rain, masks and now smoke from those wildfires...there is no more O2 left! You be careful out there and just continue to utilize the pickup from the USPS, be sure to tell them how much they are appreciated as I'm sure they don't hear that often!

I tried using USPS pickup but 8 out of 10 times the carrier just leaves my packages behind and I have to make a mad dash to the post office before it closes.

You should open an online complaint. I am a retired Postmaster and had the same problem. Sometimes you need to reach out and remind a few carriers of their paid responsibilities. After a time or two of receiving a formal complaint, the PM at your office will tire from them and poke your carrier to do their job. Don't be afraid to do so. It is nothing personal. It business, yours and theirs. Don't do it with a phone call, use the online complaint service. Have a good day.

when i worked as a rural carrier .. one of the businesses on my route would call and complain that i didn't pick-up his packages ..... when asked when he was putting them out for pick-up he replied "about 4:00" .. i looked at my postmaster and reminded him that i was at the guys house around 2:30 ish every day..... customer learned to pack up his stuff much earlier in the day for pick-up. 😄

You can also download the USPS app for your phone and schedule pick-ups from there 🙂

I have been using this service for a few years now. However, my mail carrier complained about having to pick up my packages off my porch. The carrier would have to get out of her vehicle and walk about 15 feet; porch was very close to the road. So to oblige her I put up a BIG mailbox. I did not have that many packages and it was sure not a daily pickup. Perhaps 2 or 3 times a week. But to keep her happy, I obliged.
I also order my shipping boxes online. I miss not having the free tape though....

They used to do that to me as well. I file complaints online at USPS.com and my local office had to call me. I actually lost my power seller status on account of this. Well the problem was the carrier or their sup. not going online to check if there was any requests prior to their delivery day.
