Need advice please.
I shipped a package on 1/22 to MI, and it now shows it's being forwarded.
As everyone here knows, we had some issues with delayed packages in the last month. The package was in transit, and showed up at the Howell, MI PO on 2/3. On the same day it showed " problem with address, unable to deliver". On the 5th it shows it's being forwarded. That was the last update.
I have sent the customer 3 or 4 messages asking them to confirm their address, they have not responded. So what happens now? If the package comes back to me I will refund them, if it doesn't I do not know what to do. I have not been able to confirm that is the correct address. What if they open INR?

It is my understanding that if a package is forwarded, this voids all seller protection, even though the seller isn't the one who requested it. If the buyer opens an INR claim, you will have to refund.
If I'm mistaken, someone will come along and tell us so.

I'm thinking the person moved and did not update their address, and I shipped to the address on the account. So I should not be responsible for that. We'll see if someone else responds, thanks.

You shouldn't be, I agree, but you are. The rule is - if it's forwarded, no matter the reason, Paypal will void your seller protection, period. If the buyer doesn't make any claim, it won't matter.

I don't that counts if the buyer put the wrong address (or didn't update). I think what you are referring to... if the buyers forwards to another address after receiving.

Unfortunately, if your buyer forwarded the tracking --
eBay is able to protect you and considers the seller irresponsible.

Everyone is also misreading PayPal about forwarded packages --
read it again.

I do not think the buyer forwarded the package. It is "undeliverable", so either the address is wrong or the package is damaged and can not be read.

Call usps and see if they have more internal information to give you about where the package is.
The hold time is still 1hr 45min, don't have the energy now. I had 30 delayed packages in the last month, I had to wait on hold that long 5 times. They really wern't that much help. The recording even tell you the agents see what you see on the tracking, which is dumb.
I also don't understand, why a buyer will not respond to a message. That's my biggest issue. They might know the address is wrong and hoping for a free item. I know I shouldn't say that, but I've been scammed so much lately.

Ugh 😩
That’s a long hold.
I would just try not to worry about it until they contact you or open a case. Sorry for all your troubles, hope it all works out.
Thank you!
I went into my local PO, he said that message usually means the person moved and they are forwarding to new address. I messaged the buyer 4 times and nothing. The package was more than a week late, maybe they thought they would get before they moved. I don't know.
