LATE SHIPPING

That doesn't matter. The buyer should ask you before making a purchase so you can extend the handling time on your listing. When they ask you after making the purchase then you're still held to the handling time on the listing.

You're allowed a small percent of late shipments before it affects your account. If you want to wait and you don't have any other late shipments then your account will be fine.

Personally, I don't accommodate requests to wait on shipping. I ship next day, and if the buyer needs it delayed I let them know they can file a mail hold request with their post office here

if you like to break the rules when buyers ask you to then it does not matter.

delays in shipping need a delay in payments

my terms of sale mention this exact situation

LATE SHIPPING

If the buyer for some reason is asking you to delay sending after they paid, (maybe out of town) it will count against you. PLUS they can complain that you never sent it out, even if there is proof they asked you to delay sending. It is UP TO THE BUYER to put a mail hold on their mail delivery if they are going to be away through the USPS... not you

LATE SHIPPING

Ship the item…not worth a defect!

Buyer needs to put their mail on hold with the PO. They can do this online.

Don't do it as it will hurt your standing.  Tell the buyer to just request a mail hold at their local PO until they get home.

LATE SHIPPING

Had this situation a few times.  Buyers are generally unaware of the eBay rules for sellers so don't get that we may get a strike.

I have delayed and taken the hit as quality customer service for a buyer is more important to me then eBay's lets be like Amazon rules. In fact, eBay sellers, for the most part, have the flexibility to provide better customer service on a 1-1 basis then most companies. One time it was a Japanese buyer that wanted to bid on another item and save on shipping (it would have saved them over $60).

I raise this issue in an eBay weekly chat awhile back and suggested that there be an option for buyers to request a shipping delay just like they can request a cancelation and let the seller agree or not. The response was its a known issue and maybe (don't hold your breath) will get addressed some day.

You can also mark as shipped and see if that avoids the hit and add the tracking number when you get ready to ship. If you buy the postage directly from the PO you might be able to specify a ship date in the future. If so you could buy postage, get a tracking number, and the ship when its good for the customer (most labels need to be used in a certain timeframe)
