Item untracked

Has anyone ever had an untracked item? What does this mean?

I've had this happen recently in instances where a seller doesn't  create a shipping label for a day or two.

Most recently over Labor day weekend... Once a label is created, the notification goes away, provided the seller employs tracking.

Seller marked as shipped without entering a tracking number.

Maybe he shipped. maybe not.

Common for dropshippers who will later add a tracking number and other reprobates who will not.

Not a sign of a seller that you should have purchased from.

So does this mean that there will be no tracking details but I still have an estimated delivery date?

It might, but the seller could add a tracking number whenever he chooses to, real or fake.

Well I reviewed the ratings and they have a 98% rating. And I've emailed the seller twice and customer service but I have to wait 48 hours before anything would be done? I ordered the item the 7th and on the sellers page it says they ship within 1 day from purchase. So I could be out of luck? When you've bought from sellers did you email them? And if you did...did they respond? I'm told to wait patiently but when I ordered it I was under the impression that it would be here today because the 11 was the first est delivery date now it's the 16th

The 7th being a Saturday, the seller would have a tough time shipping before Monday, the 9th.

The fact that the seller hasn't answered you is probably not a good sign, however.

The 16th date is likely the date if you were to purchase now.

Some items are shipped without tracking.

Well I've contacted customer service and they said I need to wait til  my delivery date and if it hasn't came then I can start a claim. I just don't like the fact that I emailed the seller twice and the item is untracked. I never thought I would say this because I love eBay but I think I've made my last purchase. Thanks guys for all your help.

Not all items come with shipping.

Sellers aren't obligated to give tracking.

You are only making an assumption that the item isn't in transit.

It's probably best you don't buy from a marketplace built on individual sellers because experiences differ based on seller.

Oh trust me this will be my last one. And yes I'm just making assumptions because the seller won't get back to me. Thanks for your opinion

Yes. It means the seller did not pay extra for package tracking.  Often done with low cost items.  It's not an issue for you as you can still file an item not received case if it does not arrive.  As a bonus, you will win as there is no tracking to show or say it was delivered.

Nothing for you to worry about.
