I bought an item from a seller who was not experienced in the genre and it turned out that the item was not in the condition she described . She has agreed to take it back despite a no returns policy. My question is, do I have to file an item not as described or should I just trust her to refund without the "paperwork"?
(apologies if another version of this shows up, but the internet ate my first post)

Your post is still there and has an answer: http://community.ebay.com/t5/Shipping-Returns/Item-return/qaq-p/27269844

That's a personal decision. It would depend to me if the item is going back or not. There is no penalty for sellers on returns, even if they are SNAD. It's only when they don't resolve them it becomes problematic for sellers.

If she wants you to physically return the item you should file the return request. If she wants to handle it herself she needs to send you a return label. Whatever you do, do not send it back without tracking.

Thanks to all who replied. I'm going to request a return. This seller sounds like there won't be a problem with the refund process.

And speaking of refund, can some of you experts walk me through how to file for a refund so that the seller doesn't get a selling defect? I feel she didn't do anything malicious and thought she was representing things on the level. I know you have to do, say, and click the exactly right thing to make this work out. Thanks in advance for your knowledge!

Find the item on your Purchase history page, then click Return this item under More actions.
