I have "Informed Delivery" through USPS which gives me an image of my incoming mail. I noticed yesterday, they are now adding all of my outgoing mail of the eBay packages being sent to my buyers which is a great feature. I can click on my tracking and it will show where/when the package(s) were delivered.

Interesting, I wonder if these official USPS notifications could be used as evidence when a buyer files a claim. Also, I wonder what triggers this to be scanned, the home address? or shipper name?

I appreciate the feature but I don't have much use. I just look at my sold items on ebay and follow tracking to keep an idea of what's getting stuck in transit or what is having issues to get ahead of any issues before hearing from buyers...
I don't see how this would be used as evidence in a claim. All you need is a USPS acceptance scan. Once you have a USPS acceptance scan, its proven to be out of your hands. How this specific feature is evidence seems irrelevant, all it does is puts all of your outbound tracking numbers in one place and has updates kinda like the sold list on ebay.
So i mean...it gathers your data for you, thats all.
Also done by your outbound address for sure. Your return address and ship to address are logged as part of the tracking number/barcode...so when the barcode is scanned its associated with your account and your account reflects such

The only USPS tracking that would be relevant in a claim would be the Delivered scan in an Item Not Received dispute. As long as tracking shows that the package was delivered to the City and ZIP of the address received with the payment, the seller can prevail in an INR dispute.
For a Not As Described dispute, that involves the item rather than the package, so I don't think the enhanced detail of the shipment would matter (although if they can provide a photo of the package as delivered to the buyer, that would be interesting).

Scans are done regardless of whether anyone has actually signed up for tracking updates. You are matched to the package by its label purchase (if you are the sender) or by your home address (if you are the recipient). I get automatic tracking updates about packages inbound to me without even knowing the tracking number, which is handy because I can then see what deliveries to expect that day.

Tracking showed "Picked up at post office by customer" recently - which meant a yellow slip was put in my box. I had not picked it up. Item was there when I went to get it at the counter with my yellow slip. I suspect this is management removing steps ("Awaiting Customer Pickup") to "fix" reportable metrics.
My change of address request, 6 weeks later, not so much 😉

Can you preview mail you sent (see images)?
Are there previews of mail, as images, that you send after it was placed in the mailbox?
