When USPS picks up my packages, they are now only required to scan FIVE packages. They might pick up 30, but only 5 get scanned. (fairly recent thing with USPS).
This has the tracking appearance of the label being printed, BUT....not shipped. Even though the packages are already gone.
Has the appearance of the item not being shipped within my time frame.
Will this affect my seller performance rating?

My mail lady was grumbling about this, but she said she just has reset her scanner (or something) and then she continues scanning after the first five. She only asked us to stack them up in groups of five to help.

Mine took a different approach. Said, "I'm only required to scan 5, so that's all I'm doing because it takes too long to scan them all. And, call the Post Office and they'll explain it to you."
UGH....
In the meantime, I'm getting messages from buyers. "Hey, I see you made a label yesterday, if you don't mind can you actually ship my item someday?"
UGH!!!

How is eBay handling this? By enabling sellers to print a SCAN form, which combines all of the day's packages into a single bar code so the carrier can scan just that one in order to "accept" all of the packages.

All of the days USPS packages somehow separated from the fedex and ups? How, Where???

When I bring my packages to the post office, they scan everything in right then and there. It could just be your local post office policy?

Found it (I think). Appears that's for bulk shipping tool. Tried the bulk thing a few times, doesn't work well for what I do.

I got a message today from someone asking if I had sent their item. Sure enough, even though I did a package pick up request and they had grabbed the package yesterday there's no update on the tracking yet. This thread I guess explains what happened.
I've heard different opinions on whether we get any sort of ding on our late shipment metric just for being scanned on time (even if it is delivered on time). If eBay does mark down our percentage just for when it's scanned (no matter when it is delivered) they're definitely going to have to adjust to this new "5 items only" policy.
I used to use scan forms when I shipped like over 20 packages a day but now usually I'm only shipping like 5 a day (but after the long weekend they picked up 12 from me). Somebody canceled their order at the last minute before those 12 shipped out and so I just was able to remove their package and void the label. If I would have had a scan form and wanted to use it I couldn't have voided the label (Which is part of why I have been putting off using scan forms is how annoying it is once in a while when they cancel after I create the scan form).
Maybe somebody should tag some of the eBay employees in this thread. This seems like something they really need to know about and address.

You won't get a late shipment ding if it is scanned within your handling time OR scanned as delivered by the estimated delivery date.
We'll only consider a shipment late if:

You get five scans? I get ZERO.

Sounds good except half the time the darn form won’t generate.

It's not recent-- it's been the case for more than a year now. They may just not have been enforcing it at every PO before.

Those with more than 5 packages are "supposed" to use a scan sheet, but it doesn't always put it in the system when scanned. Even if I watch my mailman scan the scan form in front of me, sometimes it won't show up in the system for a day, until it is run through our local distribution center.
This whole issue with scans is a chronic problem for many of us, unfortunately.

My carrier will scan everything. She gets a nice gift from me every year. I drop off goodies too at the post office. They scan everything I drop off too. Sometimes, you need to reward employees for work that they are required to do. The staff at my post office is really great.
