Help please thanks

I sold a tv and the buyer said it came in broken. So, I said I would return it after I receive it in the mail back to me. I then received it and asked the buyer for their PayPal. I only refunded them for the shipping because I realized it was past 14 days my return policy. Now almost 50 days after the purchase date they now make a claim on eBay saying they recieved a broken tv and never got a refund. What do I do.

Re: Help please thanks

You told the buyer to return for a refund and since it arrived after your 14 return period you kept the tv and the money?

i suggest you send the rest of what is owed or eBay will do it for you and give you a performance strike. You said send it back and they did. Broken items don't fall under your terms, eBay's terms trumps yours.

Re: Help please thanks

In this case your return policy dont hold water to Ebays MBG. Refund now, before Ebay does itfor you and gives you a defect for the pleasure (You expected a tv to be returned in 4 days???

But you agreed. SNAD items follow eBay terms not yours.

send the money.

Re: Help please thanks

This page is addressed to buyers, but I'm sure sellers can understand what eBay wants them to do, in case an item is not as described.

Re: Help please thanks

You really need to realize your return policy means absolutely nothing.  Ebay allows return cases to be opened for up to 30 days after the buyer receives the item.  Pay pal allows return cases to be opened for up to 180 days/SIX MONTHS after items are received.

You were totally wrong and I'm happy your buyer found out in time that he had six months with pay pal to be able to get his deserved refund.

Re: Help please thanks

If the tv was broken, the buyer was due a full refund of their entire original payment PLUS reimbursement for return postage.  (Your 14 day return policy is irrelevant if the buyer did not receive the goods as described.)

You apparently agreed to that full refund, then changed your mind after the buyer followed your return instructions???  And refunded (by a separate paypal payment) only the return shipping???

If all that's true, you should just go to paypal and refund the buyer's original payment.

Re: Help please thanks

Refund the money. Your 14 day return means nothing on Ebay. Please read Ebay policies. Your buyer received a broken TV and you think it is ok to keep their money?? Ebay will refund if you don't and you will get a defect on your account.

Refund the buyer, dont be one of those sellers that drive buyers away from ebay!

Re: Help please thanks

Why did it take 50 days for the buyer to say the TV arrived broken? I'm a little suspicious that it did. And how was it shipped? For a $63 TV, the value should be covered by UPS, Fedex and Priority Mail if it really did arrive broken.

Re: Help please thanks

Do you recommend making a clam at UPS

Re: Help please thanks

You can try but I think you need the cooperation of the buyer. Usually UPS wants to see the packaging in order to process a claim for damage.

Re: Help please thanks

It doesn't matter what your return policy is. If they claim the TV was broken when they got it, Ebay gives them 30 days to file a claim and Pay Pal gives 180 days.

The sellers return policy is mainly for items where the buyer changed their mind and decided they don't like it and want a refund.

Have a great day.
