Guam Shipping

How am I supposed to set up my shipping so I can ship to Guam?  I feel like I tried everything and guam customers keep telling me it doesn't work.

The first thing I'd do is correct the shipping service on all of your listings. You are advertising USPS First Class even though that package service was replaced with Ground Advantage last year.

Update to the correct shipping service as a first step to see if that makes a difference.

I'd also advise the buyer to check the format of their shipping address. They should have Guam listed as the "state" and United States listed as the country. If they enter Guam in the country field it can sometimes cause issues.

@jmor304

I checked a few of your listings for shipping to the US zip 96913 which is a Guam zip. The first couple that I looked at using first class shipping do show a shipping cost to Guam. The listings that use Fedex Ground/Fedex Home delivery do NOT show a cost to Guam so I'm going to assume that particular service does not ship to Guam.  You might want to give those listings another option that does have shipping to Guam.

On another note...

You might want to look at the shipping for item 324633574291 and for 322520966868. Shipping for those two items appears to be for a first class flat rather than as a parcel for $2.65 and $3.65.   When you set up that shipping you may have chosen the large envelope option which is for a flat.  Once you change your listings to ground advantage, it should change those prices to a parcel shipping cost. As  @wastingtime101 mentioned, domestic first class shipping was changed to ground advantage last year.

@wastingtime101

Does Ground Advantage take half a century to arrive?  I'm not sure how packages get there.

(I ship Ground Advantage most everywhere, but Priority Mail to Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico).

Thank you.  I sent a message back to the customer telling them about the address issue.  We'll see if that helps.  I also tried a different shipping setting for my red faceplates.

To Guam @orangehound ? It varies.

I shipped several packages to Guam in the past year. Some Priority, some Ground Adv. About 60% of them "took forever" (3-4 weeks) and the other 40% were there within 2 weeks which is pretty quick for Guam. A couple of the Priority packages were in the "took forever" group. Depends whether your package is lucky enough to hop on a plane or if it takes the slow ship.

So far I haven't had any buyers in the region complain - they're pretty familiar with the longer transit times.

Funny side fact: I had 2 packages mis-routed to Guam in the last year. Both of them got to Guam within a week, but then they took about a week and a half for Guam to ship them back to the mainland.

Ah yes, that is the likely answer @jmor304 . All your listings I checked had First Class exclusively so I didn't spot the FedEx ones. In future, if you provide an item number or two upfront it's quicker to check shipping options your potential buyer is seeing. 🙂

Thank you again.  I thought the ebay worldwide shipping service would take care of all that.  I have to change the shipping on my black and polished faceplates.

Nah, eBay International Shipping is not a factor here. eIS is exclusively for international transactions. Guam is domestic. USPS will ship to Guam with domestic rates.

FedEx and UPS consider territories and protectorates to be international locations which is perhaps why it can get a little confusing.

DO NOT SHIP TO GUAM EVER!!!  There are several scammers in Guam who buy knowing it will arrive late and Ebay will side with them on a claim. They eventually get it and pay you nothing. Ebay needs to change this but frankly they don't really care and Guam is full of scammers.

My last shipment to Guam was some years ago.

Back then, almost everything I shipped that was med to large boxes went Priority Mail USPS.

I shipped in person at the P.O. and was obliged to fill out customs forms w/ carbons.

The customer was great & loved the purchase. Shipping time was reasonable.

The one anomaly that I recall that, at the time, caused me concern was the tracking information.

The tracking stopped at Washington D.C. with no final scan in the Territory of Guam but in D.C.

Having never shipped to Guam I was worried about a lost/misdirected shipment.

The nice feedback calmed my concerns.

Best of luck with shop and sales.
