All,
I am buying a Generac Generator, but when I ask about delivery all the vendor will says is the unit will be delivered on truck with a lift gate and the trucker will “drop it to the ground”.
The unit weighs about 475lbs. I have asked the vendor if the trucker will have a pallet jack to move the unit, but I just get the same stock answer. ‘Will drop it to the ground”.
Any experience with this, this is being delivered to my residence and I don’t have a pallet jack.
thanks
John

truck delivery has different levels of service
some will drop it in the street
some might back into your driveway, if you have the garage door up you may get luckier
a $20 bill works wonders with the delivery guy

They'll typically always have pallet jacks. Even if they expect a forklift, they still need to move the pallets close to the door so the forklift can stab it unless they're really just delivering a few things and loaded them near the door.

and the reason you are not getting a straight answer is because the person that is answering does not really know how deliveries work, so they just give you the 'canned' answer.
Obviously, if there's a lift gate, the 475lb item has to move from the lift gate to the ground adjacent. Some carriers, for insurance reasons, will not go further than the curb.
As stated, you can try asking the driver, paying the driver, or rent a PJ from local rental yard.

“drop it to the ground”. That means unload it only. They will not move it. In fact, many company rules don't allow them to.

We got a Generac after Sandy and the peace of mind we have is priceless, even if it did cost $8k. You did good.

I know that hindsight is 20/20, but shouldn't this question have been asked before buying?

Did you find this item on eBay??
Did you find it on a different site and they say eBay is handling the sale??
Did they demand payment with gift cards or cryto????
If so you are or have been scammed.

Just curious (and still learning): What aspect of this scenario would lead you to believe the OP made this purchase on another site, not eBay?

That's pretty much all they'll do is drop it.
It'll be your responsibility to get it moved.

been seeing a lot of these that are fake sales on other sites....
as for freight systems shipping: that response is also wrong. Most will expect you to have a way to pick it up and deal with the item.
