Why does the EBAY postage calculator for first class package show up to 1 pound but when I print the label with a weight of 1 pound when the label prints it shows shows 15.9. oz. I know I have printed 1 pound first class labels and it showed 1 pound on the label. I thought Ebay had a special deal with the post office to allow first class up to one pound? If indeed Ebay labels for first class are up to 15.9 then the calculator should stop showing first class as an option if I put in 1 pound. I now have to void the label and pay a much higher rate cutting into the ever decreasing profit per item.

The official USPS weight limit for Commercial First Class packages is 15.999 ounces. As noted in the other post, this is the basic online rate, not some special deal with eBay. So you can just go along with eBay's 15.9 ounces label if your package's actual weight is 15.999 ounces or less.
The online First Class package postage cost is the same for any weight from 12.01 ounces through 15.999 ounces, so you could put any weight in that range, even 13 ounces, on the label and USPS wouldn't care because the postage cost is the same.
If your package is actually 1.000 pounds, then it's not eligible for First Class, but you can adjust the weight enough to make it eligible just by trimming a flap.

A good while back it seems I could too. Maybe when we had PayPal? I’m thinking that as long as the package is no more than 15.9 oz. You can Put 15 oz. On the label and be fine but if it’s a pound you would have to use priority. Personally I just err on the side of caution and upgrade to priority for anything over 15 oz.

The increased limit for online 1st class is "up to" one pound which is 15.9 ounces. The labels on ebay do not allow any entries other that whole ounces, so you can enter sixteen ounces, but it prints as the limit of 15.9.
That is a bit confusing, but doesn't change the fact that if your package is actually one pound exactly in weight, then trim some flaps or ship using Priority.

The short answer is that eBay has no "special deal with the post office".

I print first class labels all the time, 50 a week
you can enter 16 ounces and it turns into 1 pound displayed in ebay shipping
when you print the label it actually reads 15.9 ounces.
I hear about this all the time and I just put in 16 ounces.
like I said I checked the label which I never do and it had 15.9 ounces
if you feel better using 1 pound or 16 ounces it does not really matter and is not going to get rejected

I always enter 15 oz. Never had a problem, and I've done my share of sales.
