Hi--I am sure others are having the same problems but I could use some assistance. I have several buyers that have not received their items after the 15 day recommended USPS wait. How do you prove to the USPS the cost of the item and proof of your insurance when mailing with USPS. It is shown on eBay but they want something uploaded? I have packages picked up, as I am rural, and they do not leave a receipt. I am trying to file claims on my lost packages and do not know what or how to upload information for these two requirements. Thanks for any suggestions or help. Connie

I heard there are over $7 MILLION packages delayed this year. That is why I put my store on vacation until after the holidays.
Go to USPS.com and file CLAIM (attach copy of EBAY invoice proving value of item + shipping costs).
Not sure if USPS covers all lost packages or just PRIORITY MAIL (insurance included).
I reported lost PRIORITY MAIL package and USPS mailed me checked for full amount (purchase price + shipping costs).
Do NOT file MISSING PACKAGE (this does NOT give you refund & postman said they don't have time to search).

I wouldn't file any missing packages claims yet. Call the USPS 1-800-275-8777. During business hours, I think 8-5 M-F. You have to go through the options until you get a live person, it is a bit tricky but if you hit a dead end, hang up call back and try a different choice. They don't make it easy to actually talk to someone. Don't give up.
When you contact a CS person, Have your tracking numbers ready. They have to track down where your packages are and contact the distribution centers or local PO (where ever your package is stuck) and let you know where the package is. They ask you what is in the package and how much it is. They will file a report and you can have them call you or email you on the progress. I've done this several times and it has always worked out for me.
Use the USPS tracking on their website. The eBay tracking isn't updated as fast.
Call Early! otherwise you will wait on line a long time right now. I called 2 weeks ago at 8:01 am and got right through.

Call the USPS 1-800-275-8777.....Like i call a SCAMMERS PLACE. Was very difficult to talk with a human there. After losing few hours, finally i was able to talk with somebody and request my package back ! EBAY help you with nothing , don't trust on the bul**bleep** about your money back waranty. If you are a seller and your item was shipped but not delivered you are alone, nobody help you, no USPS, no EBAY ! EBAY MAKE MONEY, ONLY and provide ZERO support when you are on some kind of trouble ! EBAY AND USPS GIVE YOU NOTHING, when you need HELP !

Tell your buyers it is the holiday season and there is a delay. Give it another 10 days. The buyers will probably file a "not received" case against you which you would have no other choice but issue a refund whenever they do that. When filing for insurance I would go to the USPS website and file the case. They require the tracking number and you can scan the invoice that Ebay gives you and upload that as proof of value. Then wait for them to get back to you. It has been over a year since I had to file a claim but I think this has to do with the holiday season.

Why call Ebay?
What do you think they could do about a missing/late USPS package?

1. This thread is from 2020. I'm sure that the original issue has been settled by now.
2. eBay's money back guarantee is a buyer protection policy. Sellers have no protection against lost packages except through insurance. All USPS packages (except Media Mail) are automatically insured for $100. eBay has no control over your package after it is shipped.
3. If a package is lost, just file an insurance claim with USPS. You can file online, so there's no need to call anybody.
