I have been selling and shipping on eBay for 16 years. Two weeks ago I had a large package to ship. After measuring my package exactly and weighing it, I input those measurements in to get my package label. The package turned out to be $63. I printed the label and took the package to FedEx to ship. When I looked on my recent eBay bill I am being charged $217 for the package! I called eBay 3 times and got all different explanations which was no help. One person told me that FedEx has many fees (which should have been included on the original bill). I can understand if the package was an inch longer or a pound more with their measurements. But for it to cost an extra $150 is outrageous! I can't believe that the package was that much more than I measured. I should have been called for authorization before they shipped the package or the package should have been returned to me. I never would have shipped it for $217! It was unauthorized!!!!
Has anyone else had this problem?

Sorry this happened to you. You need to read all of Fedex policy and price systems to be safe.
It should have had the reasons for the costs.
Did you have trouble getting the label to print??

Yes, I have had the same problem.....I have been selling on Ebay for 20 years, and just started to use Fed Ex because of their "alleged" discounts. They seem to be cost effective on my heavier packages (over 2 pounds) I just noticed on my ebay invoice a charge for $26 for a package that the Fed Ex calculator said would cost $12.88.
The thing that galls me about this, is that I could have easily charged the buyer the higher expense, but I didn't, and so my profit was about $13 less than it should have been. On this item, I weighed my item twice and double checked the size of the mailer....
I just went through my last 3 ebay invoices and noticed two other discrepencies -- one wherein Fed Ex charged me $42 for an item that I thought I was paying $26 for. I think Fed Ex is abusing this practice, and I am going to stop using Fed Ex for these heavier packages. I have yet to use UPS since they just became part of our shipping options, and I will start comparing prices.
But sellers beware of Fed Ex....I would urge you to compare your shipping charges that end up on your ebay invoice with what you thought you were buying....and I hope ebay takes a look at this and cracks down....

Yes have had the same problem numerous times with Fedex "bait and switch" over the years. And no, they don't always disclose what the additional cost is for. They just tack on random charges with no explanation.
Pure bait and switch to get you to use their label over the competition then charge you more later.
FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR STATES ATTORNEY GENERAL.
Fedex will ignore you and or tell you the charge "could be" for this or that, or tell you that it is not your account so they cant help you.
I have filed with my States Attorney General each time they commit this consumer fraud. Each time I have been reimbursed. If more people would file complaints then it could bring to light this corporate fraud and force change. Plus you get your money back.
Also, when you file it should ask for an address of fedex. I always give the address of one of the corporate offices and pick a contact name f someone high up. They don't like to have their name attached because it is 'beneath' them to deal with such pettiness.
Don't bother with the BBB, they are a of no significance.
