FVF for shipping

When sellers use Ebay to print their shipping, why not just deduct the cost of shipping paid for label from amount received, then use that for FVF. That way the shipping will not incur a fee. Just the amount received which is the cost of the item and any over payment for shipping gets a FVF fee. This all started with people charging outrageous shipping because it was not included in the FVF. With the suggested solution, it would work even in this situation because the actual shipping paid for the label would be deducted from the outrageous shipping charge, and the rest would be included in the FVF. Right now if I sell something for a dollar, but the shipping cost me $4.50.  I am in a minus - It has cost me to sell the item because the FVF will be over $1.00.  Final value fee (FVF) is the value paid by the buyer, The shipping charged has nothing to do with the items value.  I have a feeling that one day a law suit will tell Ebay that all the fees charged for shipping has to be refunded to sellers. This will be the END of Ebay as we all know and love.......

FVF for shipping

You are asking for ebay to voluntarily reduce its profits.    Ain't gonna happen.

Will this law suit also be against Pay Pal, credit cards and other payment processors that charge a fee on the shipping portion, or just against Ebay?

Have a great day.

FVF for shipping

If eBay were free, selling something for a dollar would still be a massive waste of time.

Why should ebay be responsible for your own miscalculation of your costs?!?!

This was all discussed years ago and Ebay even conceded the point - but said that they were not going to change that as they did not want to disturb the existing code. The fees are based on the full amount of the buyers payment even if some portion are really expenses. Its not fair but it is what it is. Debating it more now is simply beating the greasy spot in the road where the dead horse used to be.

As far as the rest of your comments you are really not going to get anywhere by selling $1 items. Even your time spent in listing $1 items and then packing them for shipping later is worth more than that. Otherwise you are basically paying yourself $1 an hour or so for your labor. Raise your prices on items you are selling to something like $10-$20 at least in order to make this effort worthwhile.
