Hello

I have been using FEDEX to ship since it seemed so easy and cheaper. I just noticed that they are over charging me by pounds and dimensions. A 17lb item being charged as 47 pounds which then has increased my prepaid amount by more than $50. This is super crazy. How are they allowed to do this? This is super annoying and is making me not want to use Ebay any longer if this is what they allow and condone.

that is the wonders of dimensional shipping. make sure you have the correct dimensions entered and that will no longer happen.

If you are going to be using FedEx you should get your own account linked to your ebay account. I have done this and have never had an overcharge doing it this way. If you happen to run into a problem, you are dealing with FedEx not ebay.

Just recently I had a higher charge than expected, turns out it was a residential address, not a business like I thought. I checked the numbers and FedEx was correct, so my mistake.

I was charged an EXTRA $130 above and beyond what I initially paid for Fedex shipping labels through ebay to ship 2 boxes of perfume. It appears that Fedex is the only way i can ship perfume reasonably. Needless to say i was extremely upset to find the Fedex shipping charges after the fact and at such a ridiculous amount!! It was more than was I sold the products for!!!! This should be criminal. Its a shakedown after the fact and could take two billing cycles to resolve the dispute i have ebay file with Fedex! CRIMINAL!!!

I agree 100% with this. Have tried to get the issue with FedEx overcharging resolved with ebay with no success. Shipping more than the price of the item and I am out $188.39 for 6 items that had HUGE increases in charges and only discovered by chance while trying to figure out the managed payment situation. I just made a spreadsheet showing the estimated shipping cost and actual. Many items had the box dimensions change and weight increase. This is criminal and if it is happening on a large scale there is a serious issue. I have been beyond frustrated with the customer service and shipping issues. Almost 20 years of selling and this is the first time I have felt like leaving eBay. The shipping calculator is obviously not correct when it comes to FedEx! Argh! Why does eBay say when choosing FedEx 2 Day for example, "you're getting an 80% discount using eBay shipping". Switch and bait...I choose the FedEx 2 day because it was lower than FedEx ground or UPS when shown ALL options. A $17 shipping charge jumped to $125! A $15.53 charge jumped to $78.64 shipping to a business at 7lbs/5"x12"x16". eBay must have an ERROR that is making FedEx 2 Day lower than other ground options. WHAT IS THE POINT of using eBay shipping, using their calculator if you can't count on it being correct???

Somebody needs to go to the Attorney General and file a criminal complaint against Ebay and Fedex for stealing from their

customers! Why isn't Ebay stopping this criminal activity?

sounds like you may have failed to properly declare the item as a hazardous shipment, fedex found out and fined you for it.

BAIT AND SWITCH - EBAY MAKES MONEY BECAUSE OF THE VOLUME OF SALES GETTING KICKBACK IN THE END. I had the same box sent to the same customer on different transactions and charged three different prices! I've requested every transaction done with ebay /fedex be reviewed. I then went in to look at terms and conditions (wanted to print), and your unable to click on terms. Something stinks bad and ebay is very aware.... IN our case the amount adds up to thousands, but can you imagine the millions of packages yearly and how much that adds up to?

Would this be the reason of shipping costs of, i.e., an electric train, being way more expensive than the item itself?
I live in Brazil. For comparison, shipments from Europe or Asia are, sometimes, multiple times cheaper than from USA.
Never figured the reason till now, when I now see these complaints against FedEx and UPS.

If you use FedEx shipping thru eBay these excessive charges have been known to happen. I solved this problem two ways. 1. I got my own FedEx account so I deal with FedEx directly where I get an unknown discount, no problems since then. 2. Use PayPal UPS shipping where I get up to 85% off for International Shipping. I have used UPS this way several times since it went into effect with excellent results with no change in the quoted shipping charge. Also in the US, UPS does not add on residential charge. Since you are in Brazil, this info might not really help you since eBayers are generally not receptive when potential customers advise them that there is a cheaper/better way to ship.
