Estimated Delivery Too Short

I had an order on Sunday. Customer selected Economy Shipping which I offer free.

The estimated delivery window is 14-16.

This seems very short for an economy expectation date.

USPS states expected delivery on the 18th.

I have not (yet) seen reports of the same but will keep an eye out.

In your shoes I'd check the shipping section of the listing to verify the service that was offered was generic economy, and check the order details to be sure the buyer selected economy. (Rule out my own potential error first.)

If this is truly an issue with the EDD I would report it to eBay CS. On social you can screenshots, but you may find chat or callback a more convenient option if you don't have a social account. You've been around a while so I assume you don't need the CS links.

Generic economy is 2-8 biz days. That lands your order at Sept 13-21.

Sept 14-16 is in that range, so it's not necessarily "wrong" even though I do agree it's on the shorter side and appears off at first glance.

I know eBay bases those EDD, in part, on how carriers have been performing along with the seller's handling time.

Maybe, but it's a zone 8 label from CA to GA.

I think a Sunday order that will be handed over on Monday, should at least show a date until the following Monday for generic economy.

It normally does, this is an outlier for me.

Estimated Delivery Too Short

Okay eBay I got another example for generic economy giving too small estimated window.

Order came in after carrier closed on the Sept 27th, so carrier will get item and acceptance on 28th.

You give the customer a window of expected delivery between Sept 30-Oct 4.

When I bought the label on pirateship, even they give estimated delivery on Oct 6.

Acceptance scan from UPS for SurePost gives the same expected date as pirateship.

Yes your system will eventually show the 6th after acceptance to the buyer, however that isn't what you estimated on the listing, and showed before acceptance.

I know you use a formulas based on historical data, but I feel they are too short for generic economy.

Expectation breakdown by service.

Delivery on

Sept 29 (Next Day Air) (1 business day)

Oct 2nd (2 Day Air) (2 business day)

Oct 3rd (3 Day Select) (3 business day)

Oct 5th (UPS Ground) (5 business day)

You have generic economy estimation less than the widow for a standard service.

I think you need to extend the window a little.
