Ebay Label Return Address Changes Based on Shipping Service Selected

I just want to make the community aware of an unusual and unfortunate quirk in the Ebay/USPS shipping label process.

I always use QR codes and scan at USPS when I arrive either w/ the automated kiosk or at the USPS representative desk (they usually affix the labels for me).  As I started selling things recently, I confirmed w/ a recent order that the USPS return address was correct as I sent out the package w/ a rep.  Thinking this would be the case for all of my labels, I didn't pay much attention to the return address on subsequent orders; my mistake.  I've been using USPS Ground Advantage and Priority Mail depending on the customer's request and/or sale price of item.  On a recent usps ground advantage order, for some reason, the USPS tracking updated w/ "unable to deliver to address as listed" and I anticipated the package would be returned to me.  When it wasn't, but showed as returned to sender, I found out that an old address of mine still existed in the Ebay profile settings and was populated on that label.

The strange part is that if USPS Priority Mail is selected, the correct return address populates (based on the address I updated in a different location in Ebay settings).  If USPS ground advantage is selected, however, an old return address populates.  I found the old address too in ebay settings and have now updated it, but what odd functionality.

Anyways, just a heads up that return address settings are not easy to navigate and I likely lost my item and will need to also refund the buyer; still don't know why it couldn't be delivered to buyer in the first place.

When you say 2 different return addresses applied depending whether you chose Ground Adv or Priority (I've never heard of that happening - very weird), are you referring to outbound labels? You to the buyer?

Or are you talking about return service labels? Buyer to you?

For others that find this discussion and want to know how to change their ship from and/or return address:

First go to this page under your account settings and update all relevant address fields. The next time you go to print a label, click on edit next to your ship from address on the right side of the page to make sure the updated address is showing before you purchase the label.

Don't forget to update the location on your listings. Go to your active listings page in seller hub, select all listings, click the edit button in the menu above your listings. From there you can use the bulk editor to change the ship from zip code on your listings to ensure accurate rates when calculated shipping is used.

Yes, the auto populated return address on outbound labels (seller to buyer).

At this link, do you have both of your addresses?

No, just one address.  It appears that the "ship from" address and the "return address" are used depending on which usps service is selected.

If you want to test this out, put different addresses in each of those settings and then create a usps priority mail and another usps ground advantage label and you should have two different return addresses on the label.
