Hi, last week I was looking at a tracking for an EIS item I sold. I notice it had red ! point and the words - cannot be exported as the last tracking update . It also said I would receive an email.
Well I never received any email about it. the item still shows in SHIPPED status but there are no other tracking updates since the 6/21 cannot be exported.
i contacted ebay and they couldn't help, just said it EIS so ebay will handle it. so what I want to know is
1. is it normal to get the "cannot be exported" tracking msg and no email and no status change?
2. should status on that item remain SHIPPED? will it ever change and what does it change to delivered or returned or what)?
3. do you usually contact the buyer (I'm not sure they were notified by email either) to let them know what happened. I can't see any payment return activity.
so overall is this an aberration or is this the way it works.
thanks for your help

I know that a number of Canadian buyers have received messages saying that their item could not be exported and that they would or have been refunded by eBay. I'm not sure what a seller see or what messages they receive.

Well 2 weeks later, it appears that I may have some answers from my own situation.
Ebay finally took some actions on my order with the item that could not be exported. It came in the form of a apparent IND (item not delivered) claim from the buyer which Ebay apparently closed nearly immediately with a refund to the buyer BUT with note that I (seller) was NOT at fault and my status would not be effected by this claim.
The status of the sale was changed to (Refunded - Ebay paid) and the sale was closed.
I did contact buyer but never heard from them.
So anyway it looks like it took time but the issue has been fully resolved.

May I ask what was the item? Also did the box say anything on the outside the flammable or batteries. I read somewhere that items in those boxes are rejected.
