EBAY SCAMMING SHIPPING LABEL PRICE

Hey iam writing on here to let people know ! I sell a item and weigh the box and pay for label and after box is shipped eBay overcharges and lies about the weight of the box ! Example : box weight is 2.5 pounds I put 3pounds. The price is $8.10 box gets delivered and eBay says box is 17 pounds and charges $18 for label. This is happening on almost all my labels and eBay is doing it ! They will tell you it’s ups or company and have to dispute it and that a lie ! That’s just to get you off the phone or not give you your money back ! Does anyone else have this problem ? Thanks !

Thank you for trying to provide images, but they are illegible on my computer.

Shipping cost is based  on package dimensions as well as on actual weight. For instance if shipping via USPS there is a "dimensional weight" for packages that are over 1 cubic foot (1728 cubic inches). This means that a package with a scale weight of 3 pounds might ship at the 17-pound rate if it is Large.

Are you entering accurate package dimensions when preparing your shipping labels?

@baldino600

it isn't Ebay charging you, it's FedEx.

Like UPS, they like adding extra charges after the package has been delivered.

Have a great day.

I reviewed your screenshots @baldino600 and the problem is that the carrier is saying the actual package dimensions are much larger than the declared dimensions. The dimensions they're citing are large enough to incur dimensional weight charges.

So the question then becomes if your 12x8x5 package was actually 24x16x7 as they're claiming?

Looks like you sold some skateboard decks and some PS5 units. Are those the ones getting hit with higher shipping?

Hi @nobody*s_perfect

Just wanted to let you know that the images become legible after you click on them.  They open in a new window, which allows them to be enlarged w/o blurring.  [Not that I was able to understand what I was seeing on them, unfortunately.  LOL]

Thanks, but I had tried all those things. Maybe I need new glasses.

I have noticed that the options available vary depending on the image type and the browser; you may have to download the actual image file to be able to manipulate it in some cases. I am able to open to open the image in a popup by clicking on it, but the default in Firefox does not let me magnify the image beyond a certain point. If I download the actual JPG and open it in a photo viewer more options for magnification are available.

That's why I take photos of all my packages on a digital scale + the measurements. I had several USPS extra charges, which I challenged easily and got refunded (via pirateship). Little extra work but it is worth not only the money but also the peace of mind.

How do you get a skateboard deck into a 12x8x6 package? I doubt a PS5 will fit either.

Looks like dimensions are what is raising the cost and not actual weight.

If a PS5 is anywhere near the size of a PS4, there's no way it will NOT get hit with dimensional weight when shipped.

If address, weight AND package dimensions are correct, eBay would charge the correct amount for postage.

You tried to trick FedEx  by saying the item is smaller than it is.

Since your dimensions were wrong, you were charged the difference.

You cannot blame eBay or FedEx.
