Delivery to Parcel Locker?

Found this note on USPS tracking:

Your item was delivered to a parcel locker at 1:02 pm on September 27, 2018 in Timbuktu, IN 66699

(city,state,zip redacted)

ebay/paypal shipping address was a street address with an apartment number and thus that is what was on the ebay printed label.  Zip code number of the parcel locker is the same zip code as the street address, however, the parcel locker is aparently in a different city within the same zip code, several miles apart.

How do I get the USPS to deliver the item to the address?

Re: Delivery to Parcel Locker?

You can't. The parcel locker is probably where packages are left since its an apartment complex.

Re: Delivery to Parcel Locker?

Apartment complexes often have parcel lockers for pkgs that don't fit in tiny mailboxes, and buyers often don't use the right city in their addresses for their zipcode, or the legacy/common city name they use isn't the official USPS city name.

Example: Foothill Farms, CA 95841 is part of a perfectly legit address, bur Foothill Farms is just a community (has a PO) not an incorporated city, and the official address format is Sacramento, CA 95841. Either one works.

Other times buyers think they live in a city, but are just outside the boundary, and USPS has a different city designated.

For the most part it doesn't matter.and things are routed/delivered by zip code.

And you are covered for INR - it shows delivered and to the correct zip code.

Finally, if you shipped a package to my PO box address, it would likely show a delivered to parcel locker designation on tracking (assuming it was big enough to not fit in my tiny PO box and there was a parcel locker available at the time). City would however not be different (but I suppose could be if I used the wrong city at checkout, and that incorrect city/zipcode combo didn't throw errors in your particular shipping label flow and permitted label creation)

Re: Delivery to Parcel Locker?

I have received the same USPS tracking message of an item being delivered to a parcel locker.  It has not been a problem.

Re: Delivery to Parcel Locker?

now there may be more than this as an answer..BUT my son lives where they have a common mail box spot...you know a bank of boxes.... AND when he gets a box that will fit into the larger "locker" box....then that what it says.....

My USPS will put it in a Amazon Hub Locker boxe when I receive a package ...

so there could simply be a "locker" box for packages....that are not left out side on stoop....

the buyer should know where to look..and if it wasd to be held at the post office...the buyer would get a pick up note in their mail box....

so it depends and it is common to see "locker" box

Re: Delivery to Parcel Locker?

I think it was because Timbuktu is in Mali, not Indiana, and USPS doesn't deliver there. 😕
