Customs forms for split international order?

I'm about to make my first international shipment, to someone who bought two similar items whose auctions ended within an hour or so of each other, so I guess eBay grouped them together when they invoiced him. I was going to ship the items together, but I asked the buyer whether he would prefer me to ship them separately so that the value of each package will not trigger import fees, and he said yes. He already paid separate shipping costs, so that's fine, but eBay won't let me split the items into two shipments.

I've read on this board that for multibox domestic shipments, one can print the first label and then print another label with a different tracking number for the second box. But for an international shipment, eBay is going to include a customs form on the label and it will show the value of both items on the first label I print. If I then change that number by hand, won't it look like I'm trying to lie about the value? Maybe it will also list both items, and if I cross off one then the change in value won't look like I'm trying to trick the customs authorities. Has anyone encountered this situation before? Thanks!

You can easily print a 2nd label for an international order the same way you would for a domestic order.

There is no need to change any of the information on the customs form "by hand" - all you need to do is adjust each custom form to include the item being shipped along with its value.  (You would simply delete item that you don't want included each time you purchase & print the label).

Customs forms for split international order?

Hi,  green-night. Thank you for helping with my question! When I go to the first screen to create a shipping label, there is no place to remove one of the items. Are you saying that after I click Continue, I will be able to remove one? I'm nervous about continuing until I understand what I'm doing! 🙂

Yes, after you press continue (make sure you adjust the weight if necessary) you will be brought  to the screen that is the customs form.  You can edit or delete any of those fields - description, quantity, value.

You don't actually purchase and pay for the label until you go into the 2nd page and complete the customs form info.

And just a suggestion (not sure what it is you sold), but I ALWAYS write the most minimal description on my customs forms.    For instance, if I sold a Ralph Lauren cashmere sweater, I would never use that as a description.  It would just say "Womens Sweater".  I never include brand names and try to make the item sound as generic as possible.

Thank, green-night, I went to the next screen and was able to edit the contents there to remove one of the items. And good idea about making the item descriptions generic.
