Carrier refused to ship item forward / Unable to deliver

Hi! Yesterday I was checking a package's tracking and saw this update "Carrier refused to ship item forward". I'm confused because recently I bought a similar item from the same seller and it was delivered without a problem (it is a collectible toy without batteries).

The seller advised me to wait until the last day it is expected to deliver (23 Sept.) and if it hasn't I can open up an "item not received request" and eBay will refund me. But I'm a bit disappointed with this resolution because the item was hard to find I would prefer it to the money.

Anyway, there's something I can do in this situation? Thank you so much!

It appears that EIS has refused to ship this item to your country.

There is nothing the seller can do.

The ebay international shipping center tends to refuse to ship if they think there is any possibility of the item being refused by customs.  Normally when that happens they will refund you right away so hopefully they should do that in the next day or two. Unfortunately, there isn't any option for you to get the item sent to you. I know that it is frustrating.

But, this being the case, is the item send back to the seller? If so, some sellers hopefully may agree to use some other shipping method.

No, they don't usually send it back to the seller.  Since they refunded the buyer it now belongs to them and they usually have a third party list it on eBay for sale within the US.

Re: Carrier refused to ship item forward / Unable to deliver

The way I see it, when an order is processed through eIS, I’m not selling directly to the buyer—I’m selling to eBay. The seller's only obligation is to ensure the item reaches eBay in good condition and on time. Once eBay has possession of the item, they take full control over what happens with the buyer. If any issues arise, eBay handles refunds, and it doesn’t affect the seller.

Since the seller has completed their part and received payment for the item, they no longer have any rights to it. If eBay were issuing refunds using the seller’s funds, that would be a different matter, but that’s not the case. As long as I keep the payment from the sale, I have no issue with eBay keeping any items that fail to reach the buyer.

Re: Carrier refused to ship item forward / Unable to deliver

That's one way to view the situation. Another way is:

- Seller lists a unique and valuable item for a bargain price

- Buyer pays for it

- Seller dispatches the item to ebay

- Ebay examine the item and think "wow, we could sell this for ten times the price!"

- Ebay refuse to send the item on to the buyer, refunding them out of their own funds, and therefore don't return the item to the seller.

- Ebay then relist the item themselves for 10x the price they paid from the seiller, making a 900% profit.

But don't worry guys, the Ebay shipping programme is totally legit and not at all a scam. 🙂

Re: Carrier refused to ship item forward / Unable to deliver

Do you really think that another buyer will pay 10x the price that the original buyer paid?
Whenever I have been able to find an item that couldn't' be shipped through the EIS and was then being sold by on behalf of eBay, there hasn't been much of a price difference. In some cases it has been set at the original price. Perhaps it isn't always the ideal way to handle things, but it isn't a scam.

Although in some cases the seller would prefer to have the item back so that they could send it the original buyer,  based on what I've read here most sellers are happy that they get to keep the money from the sale and not have to try and resell the item again.   If the items did go back to the sellers, someone would have to pay the shipping back to the seller. Plus, it is probably less hassle and less paperwork on eBay's behalf to have someone else sell the item rather than have the paperwork and the cost of sending it back.

Hi, hope you received your item. I’m in the same situation. I never thought carrier could refuse to ship. Bought something for my little one after searching all over since it’s been discontinued. Finally found it on eBay US seller didn’t mind  paying double the original price, now I’m in this same situation hoping to receive still as my little one really wanted this.

But why would a customer refuse an object she/he has bought before she has seen it?

It seems totally weird for me…

Dammit, this has just happened with me, it's a Christmas present too and very hard to get in the UK as they were not sold here.

I have also had it happen with two monitors I bought last year.

The same thing is happening to me, I bought a Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 2-deck Rekordbox and Serato DJ Controller - Graphite since the beginning of Nov and today when I checked the tracking of an item I found that the carrier refused to ship the item forward, this really frustrated me as I was anxiously waiting for it.
