I'm having trouble with a situation in which the buyer made a purhcase but within an hour asked to cancel. Unforuntaley, I had printed postage before he tried to cancel. The order of events and details are as follows:
1. The buyer purchased the item (9pm)
2. I packed the item and printed an eBay shipping label (as you know, to eBay this is essentially the same as shipping the item in their system) (9:15pm)
3. The buyer put in a cancellation request (see image #1) (9:30pm)
4. I was unable to accept the cancellation (see image #2; I had taken no action at this point other than printing the label) (9:35pm)
5. I messaged the buyer and asked that they submit a Return Request (and asked that they choose 'I changed my mind' under 'select a reason') (9:40pm)
6. I have not heard from the buyer since then and it has more than 24 hours (I have one day handling).
I hope that makes sense because I really need help with this! Thank you everyone!!!
(I posted a similar question before but I didn't explain things well so I'm hoping this is clear now)

Call customer service and have them do the cancellation.

Yes, thanks.. the obvious solution. I was hoping for information as to why this happened though. To me, It seems that, if eBay has this policy allowing buyers to cancel within an hour, it should still function even if the seller prints the label immediately. If anyone knows more about this, I would still appreciate to hear from them.
As time was running out, I did call eBay and they took care of it. The buyer never did respond to me 😞

Glad you got it taken care of. eBay has some very strange ways of doing things. I couldn't begin to explain why.
The best explanation for why this happened is you are too good at your part of the transaction. Only on eBay. ![]()

Did you void the label before trying to respond to the cancelation request?

Don't put the problem onto the buyer by asking them to file a request for return. Always try resolving problems yourself without involving the buyer if you can.
Did you cancel the shipping label you created?
Did you try to file for the cancellation AFTER you cancelled the shipping label?
Keep in mind that there is NO cancellation in place yet. What your buyer did was REQUEST one. Buyers can NOT actually file a cancellation, only sellers can do that.
