A customer started a return request.
It's a cheap $5 ball point pen that looks like a bullet train with flashing led lights.
Reason:
Doesn't match description or photos
Comments:
This item says rainbow light and could be COUNTERFEIT. I want my money back.
Does anyone know what does that means? That makes no sense.
If i were to buy a widget and request a return for not as described and my reason was "ham and cheese omlette", would ebay accept the return?
I would normally refund the customer and tell them to keep the item, but something inside me this time told me to accept the return and have them send the item back.
There are some strange people out there...

You could sell lavender soap.
Get a NAD for smells like lavender.
Have to supply return label and refund or just refund.
OH, you were also #1 seller, you should tell us what to do.

Maybe they thought the light was supposed come out like a rainbow? Instead didn't read the packaging correctly and only comes out one color at a time? So to them it doesn't match the description aka "fake" or as they say "COUNTERFEIT" lol. Who know I would make them send it back too.

A new plot twist.
I was thinking that this was kind of quick, that i had just sent out that pen a few days ago. So i checked the tracking. It hasn't even arrived yet!
So how can they say it doesn't match the description?
I already accepted the return. What should i do now?

DISCLAIMER: Rainbow light does not come from an actual rainbow. 😃

Hi, on the pen box it says "Rainbow light" so it sounds to me like the rainbow light wasn't what they were expecting it to be. Or the pen could have malfunctioned. If you want to investigate the problem further, you would need to ask the buyer to elaborate what the problem was exactly, since you have many more of these pens to sell. Was it tested prior to shipping? What is kinda odd is that they considered it to be a counterfeit. Are these a collectible brand? Just so sorry you have to deal with this on a low-dollar item. Since you have to provide them a return label, is it worth it to have it sent back?

"I would normally refund the customer and tell them to keep the item"
I think I have the magic DDK (data decryption key) and it translates:
This item says rainbow light and could be COUNTERFEIT. I want my money back.
to
Give me more stuff for free. I know you don't require returns...
lol.

Hi, yes that puts a VERY different light on it. (NO pun intended.) I was writing my answer in the slow typist corner while the other responses were being discussed and therefore unseen until after i posted.

I spoke to ebay CS. They are going to file a falsification case against the buyer. We're now going to wait and see what the tracking says, if they refuse the package or receive it and send it back.
Bottom line is the filed a not as described case and accused me of counterfeiting BEFORE RECEIVING THE ITEM.
Why on earth would anyone go through all this trouble for a $5 pen?

How is this going to effect my "best seller on ebay" rating? LOL 😃

It was actually nice to see ebay kinda looking out for the seller in this case. I always read here about how ebay will ALWAYS side with the buyer (no matter what) when ever there is a NAD case opened.
Hopefully that is wrong when a buyer files a NAD case BEFORE receiving the item.
We'll see what happens....

When Lord was handing out various attributes, they skipped the line for IQ and went for shoe size twice?
