Another classic EBAY fun one .. buyer today opened a broken item , item not as described case today.. saying the item is broken and he didnt even recieve it yet ( shipped yesterday) call customer service and was told that its a valid claim and he must wait till he gets the item then check the condition??? UH DUDE YOU SAID IT WAS BROKE BEFORE YOU GOT IT.. how is this not a SCAM>> and how is ebay not instantly closing this case.. this new we must wait 3 buisness days to work it out is going to make every seller leave this site and leave it fast. ebay cant even step in in a case this cut and dry is pretty sad especially since i have done over 1/4 million dollars in sales on the site.. its becoming a joke

Did you send the buyer a message asking if he perhaps mixed you up with another seller when he opened his claim as you had only shipped it the day before and it wasn't delivered?

 

People do make mistakes.  Maybe he did. 

 

Now if he did it deliberately because he wants to return it on your dime, that's not acceptable. 

 

I'd engage him though to see what happens.

you should know by now that e-bay kisses these scammers  and treat sellers with no respect at all.  the buyer is always RIGHT even when they are WRONG !!!  SAD !

yup ebay has become total **bleep**.. and sick of even the responses on here .. reach out talk to them.. uh HES TRYING TO SCAM ME .. and NO THE BUYER IS NOT ALWAYS right most of the time they are flat out JUST WRONG

The advice you were given is sound and it assists in establishing a better foundation for you to then address the issue (if it is a scam.) If you simply choose to assume the commonplace "ebay hates the sellers no matter what" role thats certainly your prerogative, however you should probably relegate it to a different forum. If you have a legitimate concern and would like some constructive dialogue about it then for sure keep posting here.

 

Dismissing the suggestion given outright gives the appearnce that your not even reasonably trying to approach the issue or and makes it hard to take your complaint at face value.

You need to call Ebay back right away and get a different rep. The case should be closed in your favor if the buyer has made this claim and has not even received the item.  D o it now.
