Buyer Requested Return Problem (Confused)

I recently sold a video game to a buyer. It was in its original packaging and the disc was in great condition.

The buyer kept asking about damage and I said there was most likely some minimal wear present that I could not see. There was plenty of warning in words that minor wear would probably be present in messages and in the listing.

The buyer has just requested a return citing minor wear and expecting a MINT condition disc, even though I had it under no returns and described the item accurately. Going through Ebay's system, I chose the option (of the 6 of them I think) to offer a partial refund, citing that the buyer was aware of the condition already.

I've been waiting for an update from the buyer or Ebay. When I go to the refund tab on My Ebay, it only says that a refund has been issued and it tells me how much it is (the full amount), and says I have not paid it yet. Has Ebay sided with the buyer and given me no updates? Or is this how it always looks and the buyer has not yet responded to my partial refund offer? It seems no case has been made and nothing has been asked of me directly. I'm confused. Any help would be appreciated.

The money back guarantee overrides your no returns policy. The funds for the sale are hold because of the return request but ebay hasn't refunded the buyer. If he denies the partial refund you will need to either approve the return & pay for return shipping or give him a full refund & let him keep the disc.

I understand the money back guarantee. I just mentioned it since the buyer claims it's in a condition I did not describe to him even though I did and he took the dive. I was just confused on why the Ebay refund tab does not show the progress of this process. He has not responded to the partial refund and the tab makes it look like I owe him everything right now.

well technically you do him everything because he filed a return request. which requires you to give him a full refund if thats what he wants. I think its by design that they make it look like you owe him a refund now, even though its just a request with the offer of a partial refund at this point.

Always, Always list wear on a video game.  Minimal wear with some minor scratching, some wear with a few scratchs and so on and so forth.  If you are going to continue to sell video games get a buffer.  Best thing I have ever bought.  I never list any game that has been cleaned as any better than good.  Very good would be considered near mint by most people.  Video game collectors are really picky.  I had a guy ask me once and I basically described all of the wear including wear I couldnt see under normal light.  I got out a black light and looked.  Told the guy and he was very happy.  On a personal note, I would never list something as like new, or however it is listed when it comes to video games.  If a game has been put into a machine and used as far as I am concerned it isnt like new anymore.  You will save yourself lot of grief in the future.  If you had listed it as very good the guy would have nothing to stand on.

i list all my discs as very good with minor scratches, even if i just cut off the cellophane (sp).  i have opened new dvds and seen scratches from the factory more than once.

Yep, same here.  Even then I still list about 90 percent of my stuff as good with a few going very good and maybe 1 out of 1000 as like new.
