I recently noticed while reviewing the shipping charges that FedEx has been excessively charging me
The original cost of one package was $13.80.
Their final charges 34.55
The package is actually 5 pounds not 6 pounds like shown and the dimensions are 16X10X5
Now their final charges are itemized below
FedEx Shipping Label Fee
Bill Wt: 6.0 LB
Addn Hndlg Amt: $14.00
Freight Amt: $14.41
Fuel Amt: $2.85
Misc 1 Amt: $5.95
Perf Price Disc: $-5.92
Resi Amt: $3.26

We stopped using FedEx for almost everything. The surcharges are absolutely ridiculous.
FedEx 'Non-Standard Packaging' surcharge criteria below:
Is in non-standard packaging, including any package that:
5) is not fully encased in an outer shipping container;
6) is encased in an outer shipping container not made of corrugated fiberboard
(cardboard) materials, including but not limited to metal, wood, canvas, leather, hard
plastic, soft plastic (e.g., plastic bags), or expanded polystyrene foam (e.g., Styrofoam);
7) is encased in an outer shipping container covered in shrink wrap or stretch wrap;
😎 is encased in a soft-sided pack (e.g., courier packs, poly bags, and bubble mailers)
that exceeds 18 inches along its longest side or 13 inches along its second-longest
side or 5 inches in height;
9) is cylindrical, including (without limitation) mailing tubes, cans, buckets, barrels,
drums, or pails;
10) is bound with metal, plastic or cloth banding, or has wheels, casters, handles, or
straps (including packages where the outer surface area is loosely wrapped, or
where the contents protrude outside the surface area); or
11) could become entangled in or cause damage to other packages or the FedEx
sortation system.
Package shape and dimensions may change during transit, which can affect the package’s
dimensional weight and surcharge eligibility. If the dimensions change during transit, FedEx
may make appropriate adjustments to the shipment charges at any time. For U.S. express
and ground services, this surcharge applies per piece even if multiple pieces are bundled in
a shipment. We reserve the right to assess additional handling charges for packages that
require special handling or that require FedEx to apply additional packaging during transit.
So....They can literally surcharge anything!!!!!
FedEx Sucks, Best to stay away and maybe they will change.

This just happened to me after trying FedEx again. I have been using UPS for the past year with NO problems and great service. I had listed an animated Christmas figurine and had the correct dimensions listed in a rectangular box and a ship weight of 7 pounds 13 ounces. Nothing unusual about the packaging. I only chose FedEx because the eBay shipping label price showed $23.90 which was about $6 cheaper than UPS. I just noticed FedEx charged me $28.11, so - lesson learned. Will not use them going forward. I don't know if this is an eBay labels snafu or just FedEx adding additional charges, but the simple solution for me is to continue with UPS. I am happily done with FedEx.
