You all know what's going on. Massive shipping delays. Ebay still approving "Item Not Received" claims. Sellers having their money placed on hold until the buyer is refunded. You refund the buyer, then the buyer receives the item which is no longer paid for. - The honest buyers will either pay again, or return the package (at your expense) The scammers are getting a Bunch Of Free Stuff. I'm not playing this game. I'm on "vacation" until Ebay decides to play fair.

You and half the posts I read tonight! Unfortunately some of us rely on the income and cannot shut down.

I’m having the same issue. It’s **bleep**. Especially since eBay won’t compensate the seller once the item finally arrives. I wish I could close the doors until shipping is back to normal. But this is the time to make that extra holiday money. Sales are too high to justify the vacation button.

Am genuinely curious to see if or when you start selling again. Some of us have plans to move on permanently as soon as we are allowed to. So many trust issues that have popped up in recent weeks. This platform has really started to come apart at the seams.

Considering what I have seen in recent weeks, seems like you should rethink that. There has to be other ways.

I'm done with eBay on 12-31-2020 I'm listing my last 200 items but I'm making my own rules my handling time is going to be 10 or 15 days I'm going to take that long to get the items out it's just to cover my a**

you need to extend your handling time. extend it to 10 or more days.

I've worked diligently and honestly for many years to maintain my top-rated seller status to not only present a good image to my customers, but to get the top-rated seller discount on fees. Ebay demands that top-rated sellers maintain same day, or one day shipping and handling times. So if I extend this to 10 or 15 days, I not only lose money from dishonest buyers not returning and not paying for refunded items, I lose a substantial amount of money by losing my top-rated seller discount. No thanks. As I said. I'm not playing their game until they play fair.

For those of you that cannot afford to shut down your store, I heard some good advice on a forum of another platform I use to sell. The seller said they have temporarily increased their prices to compensate for the losses from the refunds they've had to give. Since so many sellers are putting their stores on vacation mode (I've put both of my shops on vacation), more buyers will be shopping at the stores that are still open. There is nothing wrong about increasing prices when the demand AND risk is high.

Either way, you're to lose being a top-rated seller this may never become a fair playground.
I'm always hearing that loss is part of a business which it is and you file that on your taxes. I read once here that a seller takes 15% of the profits and puts in a forget about bank account.
Here are the requirements to be a top-rated seller.
To become a Top Rated Seller, you must meet the following guidelines: An eBay account that's been active for at least 90 days. 100 or more transactions and $1,000 in sales during the last 12 months with US buyers. A defect rate less than or equal to 0.5%, with three or fewer defects from unique buyers.
The scammers are skinning cats in more ways than one.
Wish you luck and be safe.

You are correct. eBay`s buyers behave like that because eBay allows and welcomes it.
During this summer, when pandemic was all over the world, I expected a personal package from Europe and joined a group where mostly Etsy sellers from that country were talking about the shipping delays (it was massive, like 4 months - not kidding). Sellers were impressed and so happy that buyers from the US and Canada were so understanding and even leaving great reviews after 4-5 months of wait.
Different mentality of eBay and Etsy buyers...

As a seller, I am going to try this strategy;
There is an option under "TIME AWAY" (vacation) to continue selling. Buyers will see that I am accepting purchases but may not ship the item until I return. Under this TIME AWAY - CONTINUE SELLING option you can select to be away for up to 15 days. Starting TIME AWAY today will end on December 23rd which will at least eliminate anyone's expectations of delivery before Christmas.
Under time away, you are also able to leave an automatic response to buyers. My message will say;
'I am still accepting purchases, but can't guarantee the unrealistically optimistic holiday delivery dates published by USPS. I am still able to ship during this time period with the understanding that USPS deliveries are proving to be late in many cases. Thank you for your understanding."
Hopefully, after this 15 day period, USPS will return to their 'normal' optimism. I normally use 2 day handling and ship in 1 day. This covers for the 'normal' 1 day of USPS optimism. I have seldom seen any of my shipments delivered within the 2 or 3 days quoted on my USPS pre-paid labels.
USPS gives the valid excuses of COVID and Holiday surge, yet they continue to quote the 2, 3, and 4 day Priority delivery dates used before the pandemic.
