So just some background, we well used production gear, I ready know it is hard or impossible to change the shipping once the buyer has paid, so some of the stuff I’m selling, while the individual pieces can be shipped in a cardboad box via UPS, I want to give the buyer an incentive to buy like 4 of this product and I’ll throw in the road case [its basically a big box that is built to ATA spec] this would require fright instead of UPS because its going to be bigger, is there a way to set up something where buying 4 in a transaction will automatically calculate a fright instead of UPS? Or is the trick to just have each item pay a flat fee to where it will eventually equal the fright of the bigger case/box?

Freight.

There is no way for the calculator to jump from UPS to Freight
List them as flat rate Freight where the combined amount would cover it.
If they purchase them all then you are good.
If they only purchase 1, then you "upgrade" to UPS.

Or ... add the amount to the item price and list with "free" shipping via freight. And again "upgrade" if a lesser number is purchased.

How to you “upgrade” would that be done on the buyers end would it I suppose? Like shipping option 1 would be ups for single packages then option 2 would be fright if they purchase 4 since fright would be ridiculous in terms of shipping. I’m assuming that is what you mean since I can put in multiple services

Perhaps adjusting the invoice prior to payment...

From what I’ve experienced thus far, when they “buy it now” it forces the customer to pay right on the spot instead of sending me a alert and me then tacking on fright if applicable [I actually have the listings set to pay later but ebay....] I haven’t found a way and I don’t think there is a way to adjust the invoice once its been paid in full

Do you have "immediate payment required"? Uncheck that box and if that happens again advise the buyer to wait for the invoice. You can always refund through PP if need be..

If the buyer is willing to purchase 4 items, I would create a single listing that includes 4 items + box and charged whatever shipping you need.

I sold $300 of silver coins, insured, and mailed through USPS. The USPS box was broken into, contents stolen. After 3 months my claim was resolved. USPS gave me $15! Reason: THe Domestic Mail Manual states that except for Registered Mail, the maximum indemnity for negotiable items (defined as instruments that can be converted to cash without resort to forgery), currency, or bullion, is $15.
A warning to all of you who sell coins! I used to be in support of rescuing the Postal Service. NOT ANY LONGER!

That’s the thing, I don’t have that checked, and I’ve checked and double checked, there’s a couple of funky things about ebay that are jank I’ve taken note to, I’m trying to not do more PayPal stuff than absolutely nessisary but yes that is an option
