To eBay Management
I am not a happy eBayer today because of your decision to change the return policy by removing the 14-day return for most items.
The replacement of 14 days with 30 days is far too long a period of uncertainty for the small seller to know if his sale is final and absolutely more time than is needed for a buyer to see the item he has purchased and decide if he wants to return it.
In my case today I am trying to sell some fishing tackle, mainly fishing lures. I am providing the buyer with good, clean, sharp photos all with size and weight information and pointing out any obvious damage to each lure in addition to my own rating of the overall condition such as (still very usable, good, very good, excellent, mint condition) all apparent in the photos. What more can I do?
So I ask why does the Buyer need 30 days in addition to the information I have already given him.
I have called your Helpline and was told my only other option is to mark my listing as "No Returns", this is not acceptable to me.
Why do you find it necessary to decide for me what my options are, I don't much care what the Big Time Internet Selling Giants are doing these days.
I don't have the interest or the time to stretch out a $5.00 sale for 30 days just because of the sales policies of Mayfair and Amazon.
I have been an on and off seller on eBay since 1998 and I have been very happy with the results and smoothness of selling and some buying with eBay and PayPal but now I have to say you are forgetting where you started and who your original customers were. I realize you have some sellers that do big business on eBay and that great, but I suspect that a lot of your customers are still like me, the small guy.
Please don't lump all your customers into one group, it will not be good for the small seller, just keep the 14-day Return as an option and let each seller decide for themselves.
What can it hurt?

https://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2018-spring/simplified-returns.html
I understand your concern. This was part of the Spring Seller Update last year, 2018. A new Spring Seller Update will be released very soon. Most likely the returns as set forth last year will stay the same, unless they increase the time allowed for returns. As Ebay CS said, you can choose no returns for your listings.
Streamlined returns policies
Starting in May 2018, we will streamline our returns policy options. Buyers' expectations are continuously evolving and we strive to deliver a returns experience that is consistent and competitive with the changing marketplace. Our simplified return policy options will help drive a retail-standard returns experience for buyers and may boost your sales. We recommend that you begin changing your returns policies now.
The five return policy options will be:
Restocking fees will no longer be a return option.

Hi
This is an ebay member to member board and ebay management isn't going to see your post.
I think most of us who have been here since the beginning or almost at the beginning feel the same way about wanting ebay to remain the same as it used to be but it just isn't going to happen.
I look back on the days of no pictures, allowed to accept Cash , checks & money orders.
Buyers & Sellers being kind to one another.
It has all changed & if we want to list here we go by ebay rules
With that said I started with 7 day returns & we got forced into 14 day returns now it's 30 day or longer returns but I really must say I haven't seen an uptick in my returns & believe it's all the market you sell in.
I really wouldn't worry for vintage fishing lures it isn't like clothing or Halloween costumes that a buyer can use for the 30 days or for their occasion & then want a return on it .
My categories get almost zero returns and 30 days is really no big deal because Paypal gives a buyer 180 days and who knows how long Credit cards allow the charge backs for.
So if you don't want to do a no return policy then just roll with it & change to the 30days because ebay is never going to roll this back .
Good luck

I'm in the same boat. I used to offer 14-day returns for any reason. Now I feel like my only option is to say that I don't accept returns, which seems like it will be off-putting to buyers.

So how can one get to a real eBay person?

Tell me what you think of this note I am thinking about adding it to a listing marked as
"No Return"
PLEASE NOTE:
This listing is marked as "NO RETURNS".
I will not accept returns simply because you changed your mind.
However, if you find that this listing is not what I claim it to be and that
My photos are not a true depiction of the actual item or items.
And you wish to make a return.
You must notify me by eBay email at once and ship it back to me within 14 days.
The return shipping cost is your responsibility.
The returned item or items must be in the same condition as when you received them.
If so, I will refund your full payment.
Thank You

We think none of that will work, it’s a bad idea and it’s against current eBay policy. Don’t put any of that into your listings

Alas! Voicing your displeasure over any of eBay's policies here on the boards will usually not weigh very heavily on eBay's corporate mind. This is a member to member discussion board and while you are free to post your rant, it is doubtful that it will make it to their ears.

You need to read and fully understand the meaning of the eBay MBG policy.
Further any buyer can do two things -
1. File an Item Not As Described case (real or imagined) which will over trump any other policy you create or select and can be filed up to 30 days from date of receipt.
2. A buyer can file a similar claim thru PayPal for up to 180 days from date of shipment.
If you try to fight "City Hall" (aka eBay & their policies) you will loose most of time - yes there are occasion you will when but it has to be well documented and provable - like eBay message exchanges, etc.

This won't work. Ebay does not allow negative language in listings, your listings could be removed. You are not supposed to go outside of the Ebay Return case. You would need to ask your buyer to open a not as described case. In the case of not as described, you pay for the return shipping, not the buyer, and you refund price and original shipping when item shows delivered to you.
If not in the same condition, you appeal that with Ebay after the case is closed. You might get your return shipping cost back.

Not a good idea to advertise that your listing may not be what you claim it to be and that your photos are not a true depiction of the actual item or items. Both listing and pictures should be true and accurate, and the buyer is protected under the MBG that requires you, not the buyer, to pay for return shipping if your listing is incorrect and inaccurate. Most buyers know this.
