I bought a camera lens for $500.
I paid full right away and seller gave me a tracking number which is exactly mathing to my zip code (94089)
3 days later, it's marked as DELIVERED, but I haven't received.
I asked a seller many times, but never replied since the beginning.
Finally I opened a claim to eBay, but eBay rejected my case because it's makrt as DELIVERED by a given tracking #.
I went to the local USPS office and a clerk gave me a picture of the package which is clearly matching to my tracking number, but!! name and address is not me.
eBay asked me to file a report with my local police and submit.
It is really wasting my time and energy.
At least I learned a way to do ebay scam.
1. List an item as BUY IT NOW. Of course price should be really good.
2. Once buyer paid, ship something to a random existing address which is exactly same to seller's ZIP code.
3. Provide this tracking number.
4. Eventually it will be marked as DELIVERED.
5. Buyer is waiting and finally will file a case.
6. eBay will recject this claim because it's DELIVERED.
7. Only way to get a full refund is to go to the local police office and file a report which takes a lot of time/energy. Some buyer will give up.
8. Yes... it's such a easy way to get free money throught eBay system. Nice.
What do you think ?
Is there a way to prevent this SCAM ?
Thanks

The postal service knows exactly where this package was delivered. You have to speak with a postmaster and ask them to look at the intranet information they have in their data base. You need to contact the destination post office to get this info.

Once you get the info I detailed above you need to get an OFFICIAL statement from the postal service and you can upload info to Ebay. If the package was sent to someone else at an address that was not verified on your account then you have some good info. This is not a new scam.

There was a thread on here awhile ago where someone sent a package to a business address that was not the docunmented address. The buyer had to jump though a lot of hoops but eventually got something resolved. The thread was called Recent Scam. You can look that one up here. I do not know how to paste it here in this message. I had a postal situation here once and the rep sent me a form to my inbox on Ebay to send the relevent documented info to Ebay. Please call them again and find out what else you may be able to do. Best regards.

Yes, that's why I did.
My local USPS gave me is just a picture of the package.
I don't know if there is any OFFICIAL DOCUMENT available.
Even I can obtain an official document from USPS, eBay won't accept it.
eBay keep asking me to file a report in local police office.
That's too bad.
You do need to cooperate and comply, file a complaint with law enforcement to undertake an investigation.
File an official complaint with USPS to also investigate.
Then submit proof to ebay.

In order to help us resolve this case, please file a report with your local police or law enforcement agency.
Please include the following in the report:
is the official and only way to get a full refund.
That's it.

No, taking the time and energy to compose and post this thread was a waste, because no one on this discussion board can help you. Taking the time and energy to file a report with your local police department, however, might.
Up to you.
