They said it had mercury in it and it DOES NOT OR EVER DID CONTAIN MERCURY.
Whats with these crooks?
Confiscate my item? Thats theft.
40+ year old item assembled by hand, in mint condition, stolen from me under false pretences.
Seriously whats up with that?

Well, we would need a little more info to try and help.
What was it?
Are you the buyer?
Are you the seller?
What country was it going to?

There is no help, they stole it.
You buy something, gsp can confiscate it and the seller dont even get it back.
They STOLE IT.
My property.
Pitney bowes are thieves.

So did you lose any money on this transaction or not? Did your buyer lose any money on this or not?
Also if it was such a precious heirloom why did you sell it?

no one stole your heirloom,it was confiscated.
you keep the money and buyer is refunded.if you want it back, look for it on Ebay.

Because there comes a time when the buck overrides precious. I had a superman number 6 signed by the creators. Swore I would never sell it for anything. I was showing it to a friend at a show I was selling at. Guy came up and liked it, started dropping 100 dollar bills on the table. Ended up selling the book for just shy of 5000. This was a few decades ago. Everything has a price.

More information is needed. You need to specify exactly what the item is.

And they'll most likely use the OP's original listing photos as well.

I'm afraid I have to agree that more information is required. Often antiques contain things that today are considered hazardous materials even though at the time they were not thought of as such.

The tubes are the issue and it looks like they are also not allowed to be exported. Nothing was stolen and you tried to ship something that was not allowed....see terms of GSP.

What??
Vacuum tubes, valves.... 3-500Z triode's can't be air freighted.
Rubbish. [hint: you do understand what vacuum means in the term 'vacuum tubes'?]
Zero hazard, and in any case, this RF Linear Amp was shipped without the tubes installed - separately.
It's clear to PB what this was, the shipping documentation [eBay generated] defined it.
There is absolutely ZERO Mercury [Hg] in this entire electronic device.
You do realise what this item is, it's use, the only hazard exists when operating it and the collectible nature of this?
This is getting seriously ridiculous.
@leaky-bucket-labs .... did PB or eBay provide you with a definite reason for the confiscation, or were you treated with contempt as if you had made an error?

Only rectifier tubes had mercury, regular vacuum tubes did not.

If it was so precious, why did you sell it (the lack of a question mark is intentional)
