If you have an ad blocker, try adding a custom rule, like this:
community.ebay.com##.custom-hero.magenta
In addition to the magenta version, there are also a teal and a red header version you may want to suppress as well.

You two are my heroes. I've used AdBlock Plus forever, and I still have to do a facepalm when someone suggests blocking the element.

That should work with Ad Block.
Most ad blocking extensions have a point and click way to block non-ad elements -- try the "Hide something on this page" link when you click on the Ad Block icon in your browser toolbar. Then highlight the element you want to hide and follow the prompts.

I realized how reliant I had become on ad blocking to make clunky pages usable a couple of years ago when Firefox had an update one Saturday morning that broke all add-ons, and I was left browsing without an ad blocker.
After a while I gave up and switched to a completely different browser and spent a couple of hours recreating all my custom blocking rules from scratch. It was the only way I could actually get anything done.

With AdBlock Plus you can choose an element on the page to block then click on the element you wish to block (giant header)

Maybe they could turn it blue-grey and fill it with snowflakes?
